Casa Tersalle is a 300-year-old traditional Umbrian farmhouse, formerly occupied by a large local family, and forms part of a quiet hamlet nestled in beautiful, tranquil and unspoilt countryside. Situated in the northern part of Umbria, it is close (1km) to the border with Tuscany, making it an ideal location for visiting the towns, cities and villages of both Umbria and Tuscany. Surrounded by stunning countryside and woodland - great for walking - Casa Tersalle is also close to local sights, restaurants, shops and other amenities.

Guests have exclusive use of the house, which is on two floors, and all the rooms are light, spacious and comfortably furnished. We can comfortably accommodate a maximum of 8 guests. For up to 4 guests there are two bedrooms available, one on the ground floor and one on the upper floor, with the option of single or double beds. For more than 4 guests there is a third bedroom, with ensuite WC & handbasin, plus two single beds in the spacious living room. Outside there is a large sunny terrace, shaded in summer, where guests can eat al fresco while taking in the beautiful views. Below the terrace there is a small garden with sun loungers where you can relax in private. There is also a plunge pool (3.5m diam, 75 cm deep) where kids and adults can have fun and cool off on hotter days.

The Kiwi/English owners, who live in separate accommodation (in the former animal stalls!), are available for help and advice if required and both speak fluent Italian. While respecting guests' privacy, we are happy to share a bottle of wine and some of our experience and knowledge of things Italian after nearly 30 years of living in Umbria!

There are numerous bars and restaurants locally and many opportunities for walking and sightseeing in the area, as well as various weekly local markets. The art, culture, handicrafts and traditions of central Italy await you! The historic towns of Citta di Castello (Umbria) and Anghiari and Sansepolcro (Tuscany) are a 20 min drive away and various nearby medieval hilltop towns, each with their own character, are waiting to be explored. Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia, Spello, Spoleto and Orvieto (Umbria) and Florence, Siena & Cortona (Tuscany) are all within a pleasant 1-2 hr drive.

Why not have a wine-tasting experience in Montefalco, Montepulciano or Montalcino? We can also help if you would like to have an Italian cooking day. You could visit the Frasassi Caves - a great outing for families. Also within easy reach is Lake Trasimeno, with its beaches and shallow water - ideal for small children - where you can enjoy a fish meal and maybe take the short boat trip out to the island. For something different, there is Norcia, famous for its salami and wild boar sausages or, beautiful in early summer, there is the Pian Grande di Castelluccio covered with a carpet of wild flowers. All this and plenty more within a two hour drive of Casa Tersalle! At the house, there is a comprehensive information book to help you plan your stay plus plenty of maps and guidebooks.

At different times of year and particularly between June and October, there are various festival where you can get a flavour of the local culture. These range from music (classical, jazz, rock, blues) to food oriented events.

However you decide to spend your days, you can always keep in mind a return to the peace of Casa Tersalle, where you can have a dip in the plunge pool, relax on t lovely views. We look forward to welcoming you!
