Description

The cottage makes an ideal location for active guests who like hiking, mountain biking, geocaching and horse riding & there is never a dull day in Dartmoor National Park! The moor is on the doorstep (literally) and for most people this is the main attraction. The beaches are not far away and the Two Moors Way runs across the top of Wind Tor and this takes you right through to Exmoor. The two pubs (The Rugglestone and The Old Inn) in Widecombe do a thriving trade and are both well worth visiting.

There is a new ‘General Store’ in Widecombe which sells all essentials and more, including a range of organic flours, wines and spirits and almond milk. They have hot pasties for sale daily as well as bread.

The accommodation consists of 1 twin bedroom, 1 double bedroom and a small box room suitable for a young child. There is a fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, sun-room and living room. Off road parking for 2 cars, and 20 metres away further parking. The cottage garden has stunning views across the Widecombe valley; there are amazing walks from the doorstep, most of which take in a local pub. Birds, butterflies and bees can all be seen in the garden.

The garden is one of the main features of the cottage and it has benefited from a lot of investment over the years. In order for it to be maintained to a high standard, the gardener does need to attend regularly and because of the vagaries of the weather and the tight schedule he has to adhere to, we cannot always predict when he will arrive so we apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. In 2021 the prospective dates when the gardener will visit are as follows: 23.6.21; 7.7.21; 21.7.21; 4.8.21; 18.8.21; 1.9.21; 15.9.21; 29.9.21; 13.10.21; 27.10.21. These dates may change so we do ask for your forbearance.
