The whole living area is open plan (27' x 16'), the lounge area has a sofa bed (which can sleep 2 children), armchairs and a dining table to seat 4, with TV and radio. The sleeping area has a double bed. The kitchen has a fridge, gas cooker and microwave. The spacious bathroom is modern and fully tiled with WC, bidet, wash-basin and shower. There is also a wood stove and a supply of logs in the sitting area. The cottage has its own private patio with flowers, built in barbecue, table and sunshade making it an excellent place for open-air dining.

Built in 1868 the granite stone cottage has been sympathetically restored and retains many original features, including the open beamed ceiling and shutters.

Overlooking the rural hamlet of Tarrio, the property has stunning views across a river valley to the mountains beyond. The cottage is adjacent to the farmhouse where the owner lives and has a private patio with lemon tree and rustic barbecue. The pool and surrounds( occasionally shared with the owner) overlooks terraces of lawn, flowers and vegetable gardens that guests are welcome to explore. Car-parking is available under shady vines that are still used to produce wine on the property.

The accommodation is laid out as an open plan studio and has a double bed plus sofa beds suitable for children. In winter there is a cosy wood-burning stove and a fan is available for the summer months. The well-equipped kitchen has a gas hob/oven/grill and a microwave. The bathroom is spacious and modern with a thermostatic shower, wc, bidet and wash-basin.

The cottage has free wi-fi coverage and the flatscreen TV is connected to a satellite receiving all UK channels. There is also a DVD and music system.

There are many tracks for walking and mountain-bike riding leading from the property and the owner has bicycles for guest use. In the old stables of the farmhouse there is a games room with a table tennis table, table-top football, boules and badminton equipment, and a paper-back library.

There is a shared laundry area with washing machine, tumble dryer and iron for guest's use.

The local town of Paredes de Coura is 6km away and has a river swimming area, shops, cafes, restaurants and a Saturday market. In addition to the forest and village walks on your doorstep and the property is ideally situated to explore the coast and it's sandy beaches, the market towns of the Minho/Lima valleys or the Peneda-Geres National Park. The Spanish border is 30 mins and Porto airport is 1 hr drive away.

Canoeing/Kayaking: The owner has details of canoes for hire on the River Lima and River Minho. The canoeing is suitable for beginners and children.
