Be sure to visit the Varaždin cemetery, an example of park architecture and a monument of nature, as well as numerous beautifully landscaped parks and promenades, of which the John Paul II Park and the Strossmayer Promenade stand out. Among the interesting things is the change of the city guard in front of the City Hall, whose members are called Purgari, then the city market, the square of traditional crafts and Varaždin courtyards, especially within the historic city centre. Recognizable symbols of the city include its coat of arms on the City Hall, the tower of the Old Town, the palaces of Draškovi?, Pata?i? and Mrazovi?, the church of St. Nicholas.
