As such, each is celebrated and honored through various festivals and events throughout the year. Twice a year (usually November and June), the patron saint of Amalfi, St. Andrea, is honored with the Festa di Sant\' Andrea. On her birthday in November, her statue is carried around the city in a solemn procession. June is a livelier celebration with music and fireworks, commemorating St. Andrea\'s victory over the evil pirate Barbarossa. And every spring, the city celebrates its past as a maritime republic with a Regatta of the Maritime Republics. It features people in period costumes and four perfectly recreated sea vessels, one each for Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa and Venice.
