The sitting room of Lindore Road is as elegant as you’d expect, with its pale floor, original iron fireplace and brightly coloured rugs. The large eat-in kitchen features exposed brickwork alongside dining space for six, and full height windows looking out into the patio garden.



Chefs will find everything they need, from sharp knives to a coffee machine, and if the weather allows, you may want to take your steaks outside and fire up the barbeque. There are three candy coloured kids’ rooms, two singles and a bunk-bedded twin, all with cute touches that the little ones will love. While they’re busy with your hosts’ toys, you’ve the choice between the whisper-quiet attic double, and the stately master suite, with a kingsized bed, and furniture so lavishly pretty it wouldn’t look out of place in a grand chateau.

You could spend the whole day drifting up and down Northcote Road, idling in the boutiques and sampling fare from the funky cafes and gastropubs. But do take a walk on Clapham Common, one of the most popular parks south of the river, and when it comes to a night out, it’s hard to beat Clapham Old Town. Or, if it’s the West End you’re after, the journey from Clapham Junction to Oxford Circus takes a little over twenty minutes.
