Description

Villa in Alcaucin, Costa del Sol, Spain - Peace, quiet and comfort, near to the white puebo village Of Alcaucin. You'll never want to leave!

This is the real Spain! In the heart of the little-known Axarquia in a stunning location with wonderful views of the mountains and the beautiful Vinuela Valley far below, Casa Louisa is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Facing south it has sun from around breakfast time until sunset with the unspoilt natural beauty of the Sierras all around. Have a look on our own website for more pictures. Although it looks and feels like a traditional Spanish house, it is newly built with all the comforts of the 21st century. There's a large private pool with pool house, a delightful covered terrace with large marble tables for dining, sun-trap balcony and several other terraces with sofas and chairs to sit in comfort. Set amongst the olive groves, peace, tranquility, hot sun by the pool, the shade of an olive old tree, birdsong, the vivid colours of mediterranian flowers, the sound of the goat bells as Pepe shepherds his flock home at the end of the day, incredible skies as the sun leaves the valley ... this and more is what you will find.

Have a good look on Google Maps ... and other independent review sites or our own website ... to see how our guests have found their stay.

Notes on accommodation:

Casa Louisa is on two levels and, as the pool is slightly below the villa with pool house and large terraces, the whole feeling is one of spaciousness with plenty of room for everyone to do just what they want .. joining in the fun around the pool or reading quietly in the shade away from it all. Our guests tell us the villa is very suitable for young families with lockable gates between the house and pool, safe play area outside for tinies. There is one complete set of baby equipment in the house and extra stuff for another baby is very easy to organise. Wifi access in most rooms and terraces close to the house. Air conditioning (note extra charge) and fans in every room. Beds are all comfortable (vital!) with blankets or duvets if needed. The house is prepared to a high standard with many of those basic necessities! Outside: Large private pool (10 by 5 metres), large pool house with outdoor kitchen and bar (only a step away to those cold drinks!) all surrounded by large terraces giving the property a feeling of spaciousness. (Meaning, however, children need to be supervised at all times when in the pool). Gates with bolts between the house and the pool on top and bottom terraces for the safety of small children (making a safe play area for tinies just outside the living area). 8 full-size sun beds and plenty of movable comfortable chairs for sunbaking or reading in the shade. Sun-trap balcony outside the living room with comfortable sofa and chairs. Covered area with comfortable sofa and chairs leading from 2nd sitting room downstairs. Two large marble tables on the top terrace perfect for outside dining and breakfast in shade or sun. Plenty of chairs. Gas bbq (gas supplied) just outside the kitchen. Outside wood oven for use in spring, autumn and winter. Extra umbrellas for shade. TABLE TENNIS table. Utility Room: Washing machine, second sink, creel, iron, clothers airers and ironing board (sometimes to be found under the stairs!) Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Villa serviced before and after your stay; all linen including bath and pool towels provided. Pool cleaned twice a week, regular gardening. Other: The second living room downstairs has sofa and chairs, flat screen TV for DVDs, games in the cupboards, plenty of books and toys on the shelves and two full size single beds. Air-conditoning unit. Glass doors to a terrace. Children love this room!

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beaches are at Torre del Mar, Caleta or El Morches (about 20-25 minutes drive) ... large very Spanish busy seaside resorts; huge, long, safe, sandy beaches with a long promenades and plenty of beach bars. Burriana beach (in Nerja and with all the up-market trappings ... sunbeds, icecream parlours and so forth) is about 40 minutes and worth a trip for a visit to this pretty lilttle pueblo town and paella on the beach alone! Sand on this coast is clean and stone-coloured.

Travel:

Car essential. Malaga airport is about and hour's easy drive from Alcaucin (64 kilometres) first along the coastal motorway and then inland for 20 minutes on a good road.

Our local, very Spanish village of Alcaucin is 20-25 minutes walk, mostly flat or about 5 minutes drive; Puente don Manuel in the valley below with all the shops for your every day needs is 6 kilometres away. The coast where you will find all the large supermarkets, shops, water park, local markets and beaches is 20 to 25 minutes drive depending on the traffic. Allow around 3/4 hour to the pretty pueblo town of Nerja; about one and a half hours to Granada if you want to visit the Alhambra.

Further Details:

Although its hard to drag yourself away from the tranquility and comfort of Casa Louisa if you want some action there is plenty to be had. You can just pop into Alcaucin or down Puente don Manuel for all your everyday shopping needs and choose from several local restaurants offering freshly cooked food at reasonable prices if thats as far as you want to go. The national park with its cool pine forests and stunning vistas just above the house and the mountains on the doorstep and all around call out to be explored and walking or mountain-biking there is a real joy. But if you want to go further afield ,the full-on experience of the coast is only a short drive away. Traditional markets, local shops with traditional Spanish wares superb fish restaurants, large supermakets and shops for the shopaholics and the family-fun water park (open in summer) are all within easy reach. Towns such as Antequera, the impressive national park of El Torcal with the amazing limestone 'moonscape', the famous small pueblo villages of Andalucia, the pretty bustling town of Nerja, the ancient caves in Moro with all the stalegmites and stalagmites and stalactites you would expect, the unmissable Alhambra in Granada, the facinating little city of Cordoba, hot springs in the ancient town of Alhama de Granada, the salt lakes of Fuente de la Piedra with thousands of breeding flamingos in Spring make for excellent days out. In the villa you will find guide books and pull-out directions for you to take with you if you feel like setting out somewhere. Short as well as longer self-guided walk sheets will take you up into the park and mountains without fear of getting lost ... although we have local guides who would be delighted to take you walking or a day out mountain-biking so that you get the best of a day in this stunning area. River-walking is a great thing to do in the summer! The area is fantastic for cycling on the quiet mountain roads amid the wonderful scenery and we can arrange bike hire for you locally.
