Description

Head for the hills on the edge of the Chianti to stay at this little beauty – a romantic bolthole just for two. You’ll find your own bit of paradise in this lovely two-storey cottage, tucked away in lush olive groves and mature trees, its terraced garden unfolding downwards to reveal your idyllic private pool. Where else where would you want to be on a hot, sunny day?

The Chianti market towns of Gaiole and Radda are within easy reach for day trips. Or you could set off for the local stables, saddle up and strike out into the local countryside on horseback. After a busy day’s exploring, Il Paretaio will welcome you back with open arms – dine à deux on its pretty terrace as the sun sets or, on chillier evenings, snuggle up indoors by the woodburning stove. And when it’s time to retire, you couldn’t want for a better place to rest your heads than in the bedroom’s dreamy four-poster bed.

Our Thoughts

This is a little gem of a place, ideally suited to a couple looking to really get away from it all. It’s simply but stylishly decorated and there are plenty of windows so the cottage has a bright and airy feel. You’ll find there are lots of ways to treat yourselves here, too – book a private chef, or head off for a day of pampering at the hot springs and spa at Raoplano Terme, an easy day trip.

The WiFi signal is only suitable for browsing and emails (10GB weekly allowance).



Pool

The pool is about 50 metres from the villa, in a flat area on a lower level, and is reached via a winding path with steps down a grassy slope. It has a stone border and is surrounded by lawn, where there are a couple of sun loungers. The pool area is very private, enclosed on two sides by an olive grove and has a terraced garden, where mature trees provide plenty of shade.

Pool size: 8m x 3m, 1.2m deep. Open May through September, weather permitting.
