St James Bay House is a modern, bright and welcoming holiday home, located under the Forth Bridge in the picturesque village of North Queensferry, and perfect for couples or a family holiday. A short stroll from your doorstep leads to St James Bay, or the Wee Bay as it is known locally, and offers fabulous views over the Firth of Forth and the small islands and to the coast of North Berwick.
It is just a few minutes’ walk into the village centre which is situated between the two iconic Forth Bridges, with a shop, café and Michelin recommended restaurant. This historic village was the main crossing point before the road bridge was built and a visit to the pier, which has the smallest light tower in the world, takes you through the tales and history. There are also regular boat trips from the pier to visit the island in the Forth which gives you the opportunity to see the sea birds and seals. North Queensferry is also home to Deep Sea World, Scotland’s National Aquarium, where you can see tropical fish, seals and tiger sharks. Carlingnose Nature Reserve and Port Laing Beach are within walking distance and offer great views of the Edinburgh shoreline and the bridges. Join The Fife Coastal Route which passes through the village and offers miles of coastal paths in both directions for you to follow to old harbours, sandy beaches and picturesque fishing villages.
For exploring further afield you are just minutes from the M90 and major routes to the north and south, the railway station has a regular service right into the centre of the bustling city of Edinburgh. The journey takes you over the Forth Bridge and you can be in the city in under half an hour, ideal for attending one of the many events including the Military Tattoo and International Festival with top class performers and free street performers. There is a great variety of attractions to visit and explore, including Edinburgh Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Royal Mile. Princes Street offers retail therapy on one side and beautiful gardens on the other, and the city is packed with restaurants, coffee shops, bars and bistros.
No matter how you spend your time, St James Bay House is a welcoming holiday home to return to and relax and unwind. The contemporary open plan living space is bright with a large cosy sofa, fully equipped kitchen and dining area with patio doors leading to your own private decked area where you can enjoy a glass of wine and watch the trains pass overhead. Beach 10 yards. Shop 250 yards, pub and restaurant 100 yards. Please note that there is ongoing works on the Forth Bridge during the day and there will be some noise.
