Description

This nice apartment lies 8 km from the beautiful city of Siena. Nestled in the green landscape of the "Montagnola Senese", it is set along the Via Francigena in a residential area well connected by public transport with the city centre. At guests' disposal is a large garden with a large private and equipped patio area. The swimming pool with 3 hydro massage seats is shared with the house owners who live in the other part of the house. Pool towels and bathrobes are available for hire (payment on site). The accommodation is an excellent starting point to visit the Chianti area and to discover some of the most beautiful Tuscan cities. Be enchanted by the beautiful architecture of Siena, its astonishing Piazza del Campo, where on 02.07 and 16.08 the famous Palio horse race takes place, the imposing gothic Cathedral, with the near "facciatone" (the unfinished façade), from which you can admire a breathtaking view on the town and the surrounding countryside, not to mention the Basilica of San Francesco and San Domenico; the more adventurous will appreciate the visit of the "bottini", in an underground itinerary to explore the network of aqueducts that feed the medieval sources. At 12 km distance, set on a hill, is the charming medieval village of Monteriggioni with its beautiful intact walls. Here you have the feeling of stepping back in time! A little further away is the medieval town of San Gimignano (37 km) with its 15 towers and the splendid Piazza Duomo, where you can enjoy the famous Vernaccia, the good local white wine. In the cathedral of the 12th century there are frescoes depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments, a must for those who love art. A must is also the panoramic view from the ruins of the Rocca: you will remember the breath-taking view of the towers and the surrounding hillsides for a long time! About 50 km away is Montalcino, famous throughout the world for the production of the red wine Brunello di Montalcino which you can enjoy in the many wine cellars of the area. Along the scenic road leading to Siena you can visit the small village of Santa Colomba with the church of Saints Peter and Paul, where there is an ancient Nativity painting in the style of Duccio dating back to the 14th Century.
