Xerokampos is a small residential area by the sea, with few residents, in the southeast end of Crete. It is the ideal destination for those who seek calm, relaxed, peaceful holidays near enchanting, unspoilt beaches. The shallow, deep blue water and the sandy beaches are perfect both for families with children and lovers of windsurfing! All of the above is combined with the wild beauty of the mountains, the gorges and the olive trees, creating a spectacular scenery. Discover the secret of longevity of the Cretans, enjoying the local delicacies, produced with pure, local ingredients.
Located on a hillside, at the end of the gorge and of the residential area of Xerokampos, villa ANTA-K offers absolute privacy, modern facilities, luxurious atmosphere, stunning view and at the same time, easy access to the sea and the restaurants of the area. Its privileged location also provides the visitors with the chance of star gazing.
12 km east of Xerokampos you will find the village Zakros with its springs -an ideal place for a picnic- and the Water Museum. From Zakros you can easily access Kato Zakros, either by car or hiking through the Gorge of the Dead (the last part of the European path E4). In coastal Kato Zakros you will find one of the four most significant Minoan palaces of Crete. The road from Zakros leads to Paleokastro, where there are many organized beaches for windsurfing, sailing, kayak and scuba diving. After that there is Vai with the largest natural palm tree forest in Europe and Toplou Monastery. The road finally leads to picturesque Sitia and goes on to the administrative districts of Agios Nikolaos and Heraklion.
The south route to Ierapetra is equally impressive, as it follows the line of the Libyan Sea. From the plateau of Ziros, you will go on, passing by Etia with the Venetian Mansion and a lot of places of particular historical and touristic interest. Take the boat from Ierapetra to the island Chrissi. It is a gorgeous, small, uninhabited island, with heavenly beaches with white and golden sand, which is filled with colour because of the fragments of seashells all around.
In Chrissi there is a large cedar tree forest, which stretches for 350 acres, with big, impressive cedar trees. The whole island is part of the Natura 2000 network of nature protection areas in the territory of the European Union and it is protected by the Greek legislation. Over 49 kinds of fossils have been found on the volcanic rocks of the island.
You can access Xerokampos by car and …why not… by boat or helicopter! The distance from Sitia, where the nearest airport is, is about 65km. You can rent a car, take a taxi or ask us for transport to and from the airport for an extra fee. You will definitely need a car though, in order to fully enjoy the beauty the area has to offer.
The villa also offers a private parking space.
I adore Crete, Xerokampos and being a lawyer, just a little less than I do my husband and our four children.
In our family we all share this love for our land, which is returned to us a thousand times through the incredible calmness and peace that we feel every moment we spend there. This is why our house is the perfect destination for us, whenever we have the chance to visit it, and we will be more than happy to share with you the tranquility and joy we feel every time we are there.
Our house was designed and manufactured by my husband, who is a civil engineer and who made sure to fulfill our every wish, with absolute respect to the landscape and the surrounding area. Our children kept leaving their own touches in the place while growing up. This is why the love, devotion and hard work of all of us is apparent everywhere around the house.
