Description

Cobham cottage is a delightful, light and peaceful detached property that has been lovingly renovated to a high standard with a seaside theme. The cottage is situated next to the family home surrounded by private fields to the front and countryside to the rear. It is an ideal location for a countryside retreat but with easy access to Exeter city centre only 7 miles away. There are many beautiful beaches nearby, several of which are within 30 minutes drive, including Beer, Branscombe, Exmouth, Sidmouth and Lyme Regis. There are also plenty of stunning countryside walks including Dartmoor and Exmoor nearby and many attractions including the Eden Project in Cornwall within 2 hours drive.

The cottage comes with a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, oven, hob and fridge. The bedroom has a beautiful comfy double bed. The bathroom is equipped with a shower, heated towel rail and plenty of soft towels are provided. In addition to the beautiful sofa, a TV and free WiFi as well as a range of books and board games are included to give you that home from home feeling. Outside there is a table and chairs.

We also provide beach towels and a picnic bag (empty) can be provided on request as well as offer a laundry service. A high chair and travel cot can be provided on request. We recommend bringing welly boots, walking boots and warm waterproof coats for walking whether it's the beach or countryside.

Preferred changeover days are Mondays and Fridays. Stay for a weekend, mid-week break or longer! Please don’t hesitate to contact me for further information or to book.

The area is surrounded by sweeping countryside, lush green fields, hedged country lanes and stunning coastal walks. There are many attractions including The donkey sanctuary, Crealy Great adventure park, Bicton Park Botanical Gardens, Escot nature park, Morwellham Quay, and further afield is The Eden Project, Plymouth Aquarium, Paignton Zoo, Babbacombe model village, RHS Rosemoor, Dartmoor steam railway, Croye Bay and Woolacombe beach and many more.

A quick drive along the A30 is the beautiful historic city of Exeter. It is the capital city of Devon providing the county with culture, education, religion and commerce. Exeter Cathedral, which dates back to Norman times hosts many events as well as religious ceremonies there is the Winter Fair with an amazing array of international crafts and food. Along with its shopping centre Exeter also has great places to eat with locally sourced food and specialities including cheese, ales and ciders. A visit to Exeter wouldn't be complete without a traditional Devonshire Cream Tea, taken either on the Cathedral Green or perhaps in a cafe on the quayside or if you fancy going a little further afield the beautiful historic port of Topsham is a quick train ride away. Exeters Red Coat Guides can offer a tour of the city whether it's an hours introduction or the famous Murder Mayhem or Ghosts and Legends tour. Let's not forget sport, Exeter has recently hosted matches in the Rugby World Cup at Sandy Park Stadium home of the Exeter Chiefs, there is also St James Park football and the racecourse. Many other events are hosted in and around Exeter including Radio 1's Big Weekend, The Devon County Show, Elton John in concert and many more

Nearby is the 95-mile long Jurassic coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site and forms part of the South West Coastal Path. The picture-postcard village its shingle beach surrounded by white chalk cliffs sheltering the cove with its small fleet of working fishing boats. The breathing scenery of Lyme Regis are a little over 30 minutes from the property with its bustling harbour, array of shops it's also the home of palaeontology with plenty of fossilised evidence of life on earth millions of years ago.

If your looking for water sports then Exmouth offers everything you are looking for with windsurfing and kitesurfing, sailing, paddle boarding to name a few. It also boasts internationally-acclaimed nature reserves as well as two miles of stunning beach that are a joy whatever the weather.

Just a few miles South is the seaside town of Sidmouth, surrounded by green hills and red cliffs it has a Regency promenade, beautiful gardens and traditional local shops. It boasts a unique week-long celebration of dance and music at the famous Sidmouth Folkweek which takes place in the first week of August every year.
