In the other direction, enjoy the blue flag beaches, coastal walks, crabbing, sailing and many other water sports. Indulge yourself in a modern and comfortable environment, secluded and private but not isolated - ideally placed for exploring the area.

The New Forest National Park is one of the largest remaining forests in England. The forest was created by William I in about 1079 for the royal hunt. At that time they hunted the deer that still live in the forest. They are shy creatures but you might be lucky enough to spot one around Heathfield. Wild ponies and donkeys roam the open heath in the New Forest area. The ponies are one of our best-loved native breeds, it is their grazing that maintains the open character of the forest. The New Forest is famous for its ancient trees. You can see beech trees that are 400 years old, oaks that are 800 years old, and even some yew trees that are said to be 1000 years old, that were here when William I and his descendants used the forest for hunting.

Deep in the forest, nestled in 14 acres of landscaped grounds Magnolia Cottage has a quaint charm that’s irresistibly inviting. Close to the sea with lots of charming local villages and towns, a country abode that makes the most of every season. Magnolia Cottage is one of two uniquely enchanting properties available on the Heathfield Estate. Whether you’re looking for a small family holiday or a memorable weekend, Heathfield Estate has plenty to offer. Collectively or individually the two properties can host between 4 to 12 guests. We can help you with planning your stay. Whether it’s a recommendation for the best country pub or helping make a milestone celebration truly memorable, getting the local butcher to prep food for a BBQ, or arranging full butler service and exquisite taster menu for 12. We are in the southwest part of the New Forest and are only 10 min from the coast where Chewton Glen Hotel is nearby as are some great restaurants. New Milton is the nearest train station. Lots of local forest trails to walk nearby.
