Description

Villa Cecilia is a stunning, light-filled home with contemporary finesse and elegant gardens with a private pool, south-facing overlooking the southwest coast of Lake Maggiore. 14 guests can be accommodated across 7 bedrooms, with 6 bathrooms, setting the scene for a magnificent family or group holiday in this exquisite part of Northern Italy.

Crafted with a blend of traditional local style together with all the mod-cons, this stylish home stands out for its airy proportions and breezy, minimalist interiors. It offers wonderful views across the lake, enjoying an elevated position, with elegant gardens framed with local stone walls and woodland. The L-shaped pool takes centre-stage in the gardens, offering a serene retreat for a family or group. Set within a sleek decking space, guests will enjoy reclining, perhaps with a poolside drink after a refreshing swim, and enjoy the sublime views.

Dining al fresco will be a pleasure, with a chic covered dining terrace, ideal for balmy evenings as the sun softens across the lake. The interiors at Villa Cecilia are remarkably open and light; the living space has a conservatory feel to it, with exposed timber ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass offering stunning views. Open plan living is immaculately executed, setting the scene for a seamless stay and lively group time after a day exploring the lake. Each bedroom offers tranquillity within serene, simply finished white-washed spaces with pretty accents of vivid colour or fabric for individual style.

Lake Maggiore is Italy's second-largest lake, after Como, and arguably offers a less commercial and tourist-heavy taste of the Northern Italian lakes; the southwestern shores are rich with cultural heritage, history and natural beauty. The Borromean Islands are the jewel in the lake's crown, with boat rides from Verbania, visitors will be transported into a mystical idyll, an enchanting world of opulent villas, stately homes and stunning gardens with peacocks roaming free.

Stresa is a lakeside beauty spot, while Verbania is known for its excellent museums, beautiful architecture and Northern Italian charm. Intra is the place to head to for a spot of retail therapy, while Pallanza has one of the finest promenades in the region, for “passeggiata” time. Italy's fashion capital, Milan, is a day trip worth doing, for a taste of cosmopolitan Italy and sleek boutiques, after which guests can escape to their tranquil lakeside retreat!

Pallanza has a good selection of restaurants and bars and is known for its ultra-pretty promenade; from Pallanza there is a little ferry port where visitors can take boats over the to the Borromean Islands, Stresa, and other lakeside beauty spots.

For a bit more of a downtown feel, Intra Verbania offers boutiques and shopping centres for a touch of retail buzz, or, for true northern Italian city flavour, Milan is an hour and a half's train ride away, for a day trip to the fashion capital of Europe!
