Description

Villa Marina Grande is a lovely independent self-catering apartment at the top floor of a most beautiful villa, which is perfectly situated in front of the cristal clear Ionian sea and a splendid sugar white sand beach.
The villa is surrounded by a magnificent private garden, rich in high pine trees, eucalyptus, olive, orange and lemon trees, flowers and a vineyard.
The apartment has its own entrance and has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms a living-room with kitchenette and a very spacious terrace with a shaded veranda overlooking the sea and the garden, ideal for eating outside.

Close to all the local amenities for shopping, eating out and sightseeing it is also an excellent place to rest and relax.

In the local area there are many interesting places to visit, from Graeco-Roman archaeological sites and museums to picturesque villages, untouched forests and marvellous beaches.
We reccomend the following trips:
Scolacium, a Greek-Roman archaeological site in an olive tree estate. You can see the theatre, the forum, and a small but interesting museum with statues and local archaeological findings. On the top of the hill you can visit the necropolis and admire a breathtaking view of the gulf. At the entrance you’ll find the ruins of a Norman church “La Roccelletta. You can also visit a olive mill which dates back to the beginning of last century.
Squillace: nice village on the hills, famous for ceramics.
Stilo: visit the tiny but perfectly preserved basilian church “La Cattolica” that dates back to 12th century.
Bivongi: newly restored basilian church where the monks from Greece still live and pray.
Serra San Bruno: in the middle of Serre Calabre (Calabrian central mountains), driving through impressive forests, you’ll find the village of Serra San Bruno with it’s Chartreuse where the German monk San Bruno lived. The place is also very famous for mushrooms.
Locri Epizefiri: wide archaeological site with a beautiful ancient Greek theatre and a very interesting museum.
Cropani: picturesque village with an interesting church.
La Sila: impressive Calabrian highland with two lakes and Silano pine forests.
Tropea: beautiful tourist resort on the Tirrenian sea.
Scilla: picturesque fisherman’s village close to Reggio Calabria, on the superb “Messina Strait” Reggio Calabria: the museum where the Bronzi di Riace and the lungomare with its breathtaking view of Sicily and Etna are well worth a visit.
Eolian Islands: organized one day cruise trips to the Eolian Islands from Soverato.
Gerace: most beautiful and picturesque town, with a very interesting ancient cathedral, churches and nice streets. Beaches: The Ionian coast of Calabria is mainly sandy, but you can find a most beautiful rocky coast in Pietragrande, Caminia and Copanello.
You will surely like the region of Calabria, still unspoiled by tourism, and you will enjoy the delicious food and good local wine in the many restaurants by the sea.
