Description

This smart cottage is well placed for exploring East Devon and sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms.

Orchard Cottage has everything you could wish for in a country cottage; wooden beams, rustic flagstone floor and a wood burning stove. Natural materials have been thoughtfully used to create a warm and ambient cottage. On the ground floor, the bright and spacious living area has glazed doors to the private patio area and garden. On the first floor are two attractive bedrooms, a double and a twin room, both have original beams and wonderful views over the gardens and countryside. In the adjacent field, the owners' Shetland sheep graze and the rural location makes a peaceful retreat or ideal base from which to explore nearby Exeter and the surrounding area. The city is famous for its magnificent cathedral, unique network of underground passages and historic quay. From here you can take a boat trip along the River Exe or hire a canoe or bike and paddle/ride along the canal path to the Double Locks Inn. For the more adventurous, Haven Banks Outdoor Activity Centre offers plenty of water sports and an indoor climbing centre.

Amenities: Night storage heating with wood burning stove. Electric cooker, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave. Washing machine. TV/DVD, WiFi. Cot and highchair and stairgate available on request. Bed linen and towels included free of charge. Off road parking for two cars. Lawned garden with patio area, BBQ. Two well-behaved pets welcome, over 12 months old and £30 charge per pet per week. No smoking. Shop 1.5 miles. Pub 1/2 mile. Beach 11 miles.

Region: Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Town: Exeter is a city in south Devon with a cathedral, quayside with shops and cafés, tours of the maze of underground passages and bars, shops and restaurants. There is also a choice of museums. Nearby Parliament Street is less than 25 inches at its narrowest. Some of Rougemont castle still stands, surrounded by gardens. 15 minute's away there are beaches at Sidmouth and Exmouth, and the Jurassic Coast, providing opportunities for relaxation, sport and exploration. Exeter is a base from which to explore countryside and Heritage Coast.
