#### Location
The island of Vir is just 6 miles wide and is connected to the mainland by a road bridge. Part of the Zadar archipelago of more than 300 islands along the north coast of Dalmatia, Vir offers an array of beaches and crystal-clear sea to enjoy. Studded with olive groves and vineyards, the island's landscape is typically Mediterranean, with both rocky and verdant hillsides.

Whether you want to just soak up the sun on one of the island's quieter beaches, such as stunning Sapavac beach or fancy a more active holiday, Vir has it all. From windsurfing to waterskiing, there are plenty of options for watersports fans, especially on Jadro beach. Alternatively, you can hire a speedboat or head out on one of the many boat trips that take you around the surrounding islands for the day. There is also a dedicated scuba centre on Vir offering diving from the shore or from the boat, as well as diving courses for those keen to learn.

Easily reached by car across the road bridge from Vir, the ancient town of Nin is an interesting destination for a day trip, with the ruins of a large Roman temple to explore and an attractive old town. Enjoy a stroll through the streets of terracotta-roofed houses and enjoy a quiet lunch in one of the seafront restaurants. Nin is also home to a stunning natural lagoon with a glorious stretch of sand, so make sure you take your towels and swimsuits for the day.

A slightly further drive brings you to the vibrant city of Zadar. With Roman, Byzantine and Venetian ruins sitting alongside sophisticated bars and superb restaurants, it is not to be missed.
