Description

A faithfully restored rustic country villa boasting spectacular views of the valleys and mountains, La Cuculiera is a tranquil and comfortable getaway. The garden at this semi-detached hillside house features an elegant terrace set underneath a gazebo. A particularly unique feature is the outdoor lounge area beside the pool, residing on an island area accessed via a wooden bridge. Much of the garden and pool is contained within a centralised area. This, complete with the nearby rockery features, makes a wonderful place to lounge and swim in the sunshine.

Meanwhile, the interior carries an authentic farmhouse atmosphere. Modern conveniences have been added with great care so as not to disrupt the rural aesthetic. The open-plan kitchen-diner and lounge area is a great place to gather together, and features a wall-mounted TV and an open fireplace. Meanwhile, the bedrooms are decorated with subtle murals on the walls and have great views of the countryside. A safe haven of peace and quiet all round.

Our Thoughts

A tranquil getaway with has easy access to the town of Pescaglia. Cuculiera impressed us with its rich countryside atmosphere. It feels like a step back in time, without sacrificing comfort. The raised terrace area across the bridge is a fantastic feature, the likes of which we almost never see. What a stunning place to relax, especially with the addition of a parasol and the four nightlights on each corner of the fence.

This villa is semi-detached. The house on the left side belongs to a different owner. It is often unoccupied, though they do use it occasionally.

There are two parking spaces within the grounds of the property.

The pool is above ground and prefabricated. Bathers must take care and must not climb over the side. Only use the ladder provided to enter and exit the pool.

There is no door separating Bedroom 3 from the hallway below. The staircase leads straight up into the bedroom.

The hill on which the garden is set is quite steep. Guests must take care around it.

The paved narrow road leading to the villa is 1800 metres long.

Pool

Close to the villa in the wonderful mature garden is the pre-fabricated, chlorine cleansed swimming pool. It measures 4x8 metres with a depth of  1.40 metres. There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols available around the pool terrace. The pool and terrace are surrounded by a low hedge and offer fantastic views of the valley floor and distant mountains. The pool is available from the beginning of May to the end of September, weather permitting. The water is entered and exited via a metal ladder with steps.
