Whinstane is an attractive and imposing semi-detached house set in the peaceful small village of Twynholm. Whinstane really is the perfect place for family and friends alike to enjoy a family holiday in a beautiful location.

Completely redecorated and furnished in 2021 Whinstane is set over 3 floors. A particularly lovely place to spend a good few hours is the conservatory/dining room which overlooks the garden and for the cooks amongst you enjoy the seasonal fresh produce in the garden. A feature that the kids will love is picking their bedroom, all which have individual names – who will bag ‘The Doghouse’.

Twynholm is a quiet little village with a village shop and a pub/restaurant and is an excellent base from which to explore the area. A must for kids and adults alike is a visit to the Cocoabean Chocolate Factory located on the fringes of the village where you can join in the chocolate workshops and create your own chocolate delights.

Just along the road another must is a visit to Cream o’ Galloway Ice Cream where you can enjoy a delicious ice cream, join an ice cream making workshop, nature trails and crazy golf. If you prefer a more leisurely day there are numerous excellent and popular beaches in the area at Mossyard, Cardoness and The Dhoon. Only a 5-minute drive from Whinstane is the pretty little harbour town of Kirkcudbright. Known as ‘the artists town’ a must is a visit to the famous Broughton House and gardens, once home to E A Hornel.

With its bustling harbour the town attracts visitors throughout the year drawn by the harbour, where you can watch the fishing boats return, the historic high street and the diverse range of annual events and visitor attractions. With its dramatic coastline enjoy the numerous walks along scenic coastal paths or inland is just as stunning along forest trails. With sailing, swimming, horse riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is plenty to keep you occupied. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including the National Trust’s Threave Gardens. Close to the Galloway Forest Park and central to five of the 7Stanes, this is a popular destination for cyclists and mountain bikers.
