Description

Originally listed in the Domesday book, the current house is an 1849 rebuild from a previous 1698 construction. The property is a picturesque gothic style with leaded windows and many character features. This will be your own stately home for the week, complete with snooker room, two large reception rooms both with imposing open fireplaces and one even has a Beckstein grand piano. There is a large private indoor heated swimming pool and external patio with barbecue, pizza oven and dining area. The grounds are extensive and include a pond, which is not fenced so small children should be supervised, a tennis court, mature trees and a fine collection of magnolias and rhododendrons with 18 acres in total to explore. The garden is a Cornish woodland Spring garden, at its best in March, April and May.

With excellent access to the A39, all of the delights of the north Cornwall coast are within easy reach. The golden sandy beaches are plentiful from Trebarwith Strand to Newquay and you are thoroughly spoilt for choice. The quaint fishing village of Port Isaac is 10 minutes away and is famed for being an artist's retreat and a film location for the likes of Doc Martin and Poldark. Padstow, and Rock, on the opposite bank of the Camel Estuary are both well worth a visit and there is a plethora of restaurants to suit all tastes, from Michelin starred fine dining to cosy Cornish pubs with great home cooked food.

Ground Floor: Enter through a covered porch into the large entrance hall which houses a fine collection of Victorian stuffed birds. The entrance hall extends to the rear of the property where the large staircase sweeps up to the first floor with two tiger skins, traditional to the period, mounted on the walls. From the entrance hall are doors to two elegant reception rooms both with leaded windows and magnificent open fireplaces, comfortable seating and in one there is a Beckstein grand piano. There is also a corridor with access to; a snooker room with 10' x 5' table, dining room with door to the garden, WC with hand basin, rear stairs to first floor, study/dog room, large kitchen with 4 door Aga and electric double range oven, door leading to swimming pool building, with kitchen area and large dining tables with doors opening onto the patio and barbecue area, large heated swimming pool with changing rooms and shower.

First Floor: Large landing with doors to; Master bedroom with 6' half tester bed, dressing room and Jack and Jill bathroom which is shared with a zip and link twin bedroom which can be turned into a 6' double. Extensive gardens with mature trees and lawns, pond which is not fenced so small children need to be supervised, all weather hard tennis court, 18 acres of Cornish Spring gardens and woodland and an impressive collection of magnolias and rhododendrons. Parking for up to 10 cars.

Facilities & Services
The kitchen has a large range of units & work tops. There is a 4 door gas Aga and a large, range oven with gas hob and electric ovens, a further gas hob, a microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, an American style fridge freezer with an integral ice maker, washing machine and tumble dryer. The reception rooms have large flat screen digital TVs with Freesat & DVD player. WiFi is available at the property. There are further TVs in most of the bedrooms. The swimming pool has further kitchen facilities including a 3 oven gas cooker, a large fridge/freezer and a dishwasher.

Miscellaneous
Electricity, heating, bed linen and towels, both bath and swimming, are included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. The heating is via a Biomass system. Wood is supplied for the fires. There is parking available for at least 10 cars on the drive. No smoking. A maximum of 2 well behaved dogs may stay at a small additional price of £30 per dog per week. A third dog may be considered by the owners depending on size; please contact the office for more information. Please note dogs may not be left unattended in the property or allowed upstairs. There are cots and high chairs available on request. There are a number of zip and link bedrooms which may be made up as doubles. The pool is heated to 28°, you can increase the temperature by up to 2° at a cost of £30 per 1° per week. The pizza oven is by arrangement only, directly with the owner.
