Nestling in 26 acres of woodland and pasture, this delightful detached barn is situated in a quiet retreat in rural Kent, and offers complete tranquillity with space to think and be creative. The cottage is well equipped and has a wood burner for which the owners thoughtfully supply a basket of logs during the winter months. A glass of wine can be enjoyed on the decked terrace whilst watching the lambs at play, or trying to spot a deer. Malthouse Barn is 20 minutes from Canterbury, and the Channel Tunnel is 15 minutes away for the Eurostar to Paris. Take the fast train from Ashford and be at St Pancras, London, in just over half an hour. For a car free holiday, the owners are happy to collect and deliver guests to and from the station, and for sightseeing trips, you can take the train into historic Canterbury. Enjoy views from the decking down the valley which is occasionally visited by herds of wild deer. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is an orchid conservation area, and makes a lovely place to visit in any season. For flower lovers, there are great gardens to visit nearby including the famous gardens at Sissinghurst, Great Dixter, Bateman’s, Scotney Castle and Charleston. The town of Wye is 4 miles away and has a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs, with a farmers’ market every other Saturday. There are also two local pubs within walking distance. This is excellent walking terrain, and for the more daring, try hot air ballooning locally. Shop 3 miles, pub 1 mile.
