Description

The contemporary design of Canico House is a welcoming sight and offers its guests the chance for rest and recuperation in its stylish living areas and beautiful heated pool. Canico House accommodates six guests across its three chic, comfortable bedrooms, plus a further two if needed on a sofa bed in the TV room.
Located near the town of Canico, 15 minuted east of Funchal, Canico House offers easy access to the hustle and bustle of the city and calming walks along Madeira's coastline. Canico is a quiet coastal community with a beautiful promenade, black volcanic beaches and Maderia's answer to Brazil's Christ Redeemer, the Miradouro Cristo Rei do Garajau!
As you enter Canico House, you walk past the sleek, modern staircase with open steps and a glass balustrade and are welcomed into the open-plan living and dining room. This vast open space is designed with elegant white walls and warm wooden floors, and boasts large sliding doors out to the terrace along the front, allowing the natural light to flood in and brighten up the space. You are first met by the dining area, with a classic, 60s-inspired wooden set, six guests can dine in style. To the other side of the room sits a large, comfortable L-shaped sofa and accompanying armchair set around a flat-screen television that is great for watching a film or catching up on any sports fixtures.
The kitchen is separate to the rest of the living space, but the modern design continues into the room. A large central island and breakfast bar are the focus of the room, allowing guests to keep the chef of the group company as they cook up a storm. The bright white cabinets and grey worktops give the room a fresh feel, and as the kitchen is equipped with all the necessary mod-cons, there are plenty of reasons to embrace home cooking at Canico House.
As well as the main living area, there is a further TV room at Canico House. This room is a great hang-out spot for any kids in the group with its large flat-screen television and comfy L-shaped sofa, and the sofa can even be converted into a bed so two extra guests can be accommodated here if needed.
All three bedrooms at Canico House are a good-size and are designed with crisp white walls and added colour from the soft furnishings - not to mention the large sliding doors in each bedroom bringing natural light to the rooms. The first bedroom is to the rear of the villa is home to two single beds and even has a small vanity. The remaining two bedrooms sit to the front of the house and enjoy views of the surrounding area and the sea beyond. Both are home to double beds, and one even has its own en-suite bathroom for added privacy. There are also two stylish family bathrooms for the remaining bedrooms, so there is plenty of space for everyone to get ready.
Although not massive, the outside space at Canico House has all you could need to enjoy Madeira's warm climate. The private swimming pool is sure to be a hit with the whole group, and can even be heated upon request! A terrace surrounds the pool and is home to a few sun loungers, so you can easily jump into the pool after relaxing on a lounger. The terrace continues to the front of the villa, and here you will find a small lawned area and outdoor dining area. From here you can easily pop into the kitchen and grab some snacks or a drink and still be able to enjoy the wonderful views.

#### Location
Situated near the town of Canico on the south-east coast of Madeira is Canico House. This modern villa offers views of the surrounding area that continue down to the sea beyond.
Guests staying at Canico House can reach Madeira's capital of Funchal is less than 15 minutes. Funchal Cathedral is one of the main historical landmarks in the city. Dating back to the 16th Century, the cathedral was built during the peak of Portuguese power and was a symbol of their power and prosperity. The Gothic altar is quite special; with gilt woodwork, small sculptures and oil painting it is simply stunning. The city's old town is always buzzing and is home to most of Funchal's shops and restaurants. With numerous restaurants serving a range of cuisines, there is something for everyone to enjoy no matter your preference. And when you need a bit of retail therapy, head to the main shopping streets of Rua do Aljube, Rua da Carreira and Rua Dr Fernao Ornelas.
Closer to the villa and in the surrounding area around Canico are a number of other activities. The Miradouro Cristo Rei do Garajau is Canico's answer to Brazil's Christ Redeemer, and at 14 metres tall overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it really is a true wonder. Sitting below the Miradouro Cristo Rei is Praia de Garajau. This small beach with Madeira's infamous black volcanic pebbles and sand can be reached on foot or by car down a long winding road that will test your limits if you're not a fan of heights! Or for those more leisurely inclined, there is also a fun cable car taking visitors down to the beach.
Be sure to visit Pico Ruivo, Madeira's highest peak. At 1,862 metres, it is also the third highest peak in Portugal. On a clear day with beautiful blue skies, it is a wonderful day out hiking around Pico Ruivo. Along the path you will have to climb 300m from the starting point in Achada do Teixeira to reach the top, taking around an hour and a half, but when you reach the top it is definitely worth it!
