For the bravest ones, it is possible to descend the river in Vergemoli (12 km). the art lovers must visit the Fortress of Verrucole in the homonymous place (40 km) and Castelnuovo Garfagnana (30 km) with its Medieval Ariosto's castle dominating the square and the Monte Alfonso's fortress from XVI century with great view on the green surrounding hills. We recommend also the visit of Lucca (42 km) with its ancient walls, the cathedral, the Church of San Frediano and the Municipal Botanic garden. The area offers several typical products: the soups, the tortelli and the castagnaccio. The parking is at about 200 m distance and to reach the house you have to cross the village (ancient stone village with narrow streets, partly with stairs), the house owner will help with the luggage transport.
