About the property
Knowl at Hartington Courtyard is a charming cottage, dating back some 500 to 700 years. It’s the largest of three holiday cottages that are set around a courtyard in the heart of Hartington in the Peak District and there’s oodles of character throughout. Knowl’s cosy inglenook fireplace is welcoming on a cold night, whilst the delightful cottage garden is the perfect place to sip morning coffee. Fantastic for a family or group of friends, all three of Knowl’s bedrooms have en-suite facilities and the location is superb with a cafe next door, pubs and village shops steps just away, and a choice of country walking routes.

The space
Knowl at Hartington Courtyard is an attractive, double-fronted, stone cottage with a lovely little storm porch where you can leave your muddy boots to air. Decorated in a traditional country style that’s sympathetic to its age, the cottage is elegant and cosy, yet remains light and bright.

The kitchen/diner is a social space with an open-plan layout and seating for six around the dining table. The well-equipped Shaker-style kitchen has everything you’ll need to self-cater, including a full-size fridge/freezer, a microwave, a dishwasher and a washing machine.

After dinner, retire to the spacious lounge that’s full of interesting features including the inglenook fireplace, dressed stone lintels and original stone mullion windows and wooden ceiling beams. There’s sofa and armchair seating, a television with Sky TV (including films and Sports packages), a DVD and CD player, as well as WiFi. It’s also a great place to curl up with a good book on a rainy day, or watch the comings and goings in the village from the window.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin with two single beds. All bedrooms have a good size en-suite, with one of the double bedrooms having a bath with a shower over and the other two bedrooms having showers. All the bedrooms also have their own (modest) TV, a wardrobe, drawer space and a hairdryer.

At the front of the cottage, there is a small garden with seating where you can sip a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine, relax and gaze towards the village green. At the rear, there is a small patio with seating for six (overlooked by the other two cottages at the site), as well as designated parking for two cars.

In addition, in the courtyard behind the cottage, there is an outbuilding (shared with the other two cottages at the site) that’s set up as a Sky Sports Room. It’s equipped with a 50-inch TV, surround sound, plus Sky and BT sports channels. It’s mainly guests of Knowl (the largest of the three properties) that take advantage of this extra space which comes in handy when the group wants to watch different things on Sky. However, the Sky Sports Room seats up to ten, so if you have friends or family staying in one or both of the other cottages, it’s a great place to meet up for a movie night.

Guest access
There is a lockbox where you can access the key to the property for a self-check-in. The courtyard area (at the back of the cottage) is where the Sky Sports Room.
