Island Elba is one of the most beautiful Italian tourist destinations, with its beaches surrounded by rocks (such as La Biodola at just 9 km) and its characteristic villages, easily reachable including Portoferraio at 5 km, Rio nell'Elba 8 km, Porto Azzurro 6 km and Capoliveri 7 km, Rio Marina 12 km. For those who love culture and art, in addition to the numerous religious architectural sites, we recommend the Archaeological Civic Museum in Marciana (20 km) for a leap into the remote past of the island, the two residences of Napoleon and the Fort Bastione and Stella, the defensive bastions of the city of Portoferraio. Monte Capanne (22 km) is the ideal place to take a suggestive chairlift descent. Definitely worth trying are the fish specialties in the countless restaurants throughout the island. Traditional, around mid-April, is the gastronomic event "Polpando e gli antichi Sapori", where the octopus, a typical ingredient of Elban cuisine, is the basis of this delicious culinary event.
