Description

A lovingly-restored Tuscan farmhouse with a captivating charm, Villa Ginni is nestled in Lunigiana near the border with Liguria. From the villa you can gaze out at the Apuan mountains in the south and the Apennines in the north. Take a refreshing dip in the sparkling turquoise pool and admire the view as you swim. There are day beds by the pool where you can soak up the sun.

The villa has a pretty bedroom on the lower ground floor, with characteristic stone walls and a super king-size bed. The other two bedrooms, both with air-conditioning, are decorated in calming neutral tones with double or twin beds and vintage-inspired furniture. Heritage-style shutters open out to allow natural light in.

The living room also has exposed stone walls and a traditional wood-burning stove, which is perfect to keep you toasty on chilly winter nights. Curl up and watch a film on the Smart TV or choose a novel from the book exchange to read.

Just beyond the living room is a brilliantly-equipped modern kitchen stocked with everything you need to make delicious family meals. If you prefer alfresco dining, there is a traditional barbecue outside. Dine on the covered veranda overlooking the pool and stunning countryside views.

This area is full of verdant green valleys and soaring hills, superb hiking trails and outdoor activities galore. Lunigiana is famous for its stele monolith statues, a relic from the Apuani people of the Middle Ages. There are also lots of castles and fortresses around the Lunigiana area. Of course, you must sample some of the delicious local cuisine, including fresh pesto from Liguria, focaccia bread from Aulla and panigacci from Podenzana.

Lunigiana is perfectly placed around forty minutes from the famous Golfo dei Poeti and the town of La Spezia. This beautiful coastline was a haven for artists and writers including Shelley and Byron, who drew inspiration from the stunning area, as well as being a great base for exploring the incredible Cinque Terre. Closer to the villa, guests can go enjoy scenic bicycle rides or discover the idyllic landscapes by walking or horse-riding.

#### Location
The villa is situated in a hamlet in an idyllic spot between Tuscany and Liguria called Lunigiana. With gorgeous rolling hills all around and spectacular views of the Apennine and Apuan mountains, the location is perfect for a peaceful holiday. Within Lunigiana there are castles, fortresses and towers galore that soar over the green valleys. A tasty local delicacy to try includes pesto testaroli – the nearest restaurant is around a ten-minute drive away in the local village.

Visit the Gulf of Poets, around 40km away, an enchanting bay that runs from Portovenere to Lerici. The sparkling water and relaxed lifestyle captivated many writers and artists including DH Lawrence and Mary Shelley, who lived in Lerici. There is some fantastic seafood in this area, so enjoy some fresh fish here. At the beaches along this coastline guests can try watersports including windsurfing, sailing and canoeing.

A trip to picturesque Cinque Terre will be unforgettable, with its beautiful houses and charming atmosphere. The five fishing villages are connected by train, which is an ideal way to reach them from La Spezia. Stroll around the area and find a cafe to enjoy the famous views.

Take a day trip to the Versilia coast, around an hour away, which has amazing beaches including Arsuan, Viareggio and Torre del Lago Puccini. There are beaches to suit every requirement from sandy blue-flag bays to rocky beaches and isolated, wild shorelines. Although many beaches have lidos with entrance fees, there are also lots of public options.

Guests interested in archeology should visit the human-shaped monolithic stele statues that are on display at the famous museum, just 30 minutes from the villa. Built by the Apuani people in the Middle Ages, it is thought the stele statues represent the Mother Goddess.
