What could be quainter than a little pink cottage in a wood, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves? Casetta Erika is bound to put a smile on your face as you pull into the drive and take in this one-storey villa with its suntrap of a terrace, flower-filled garden and welcoming pool. Long days lingering on a lounger in the sun beckon, only to be broken by a little light sightseeing, ambling around Chianti’s wineries and the cobbled streets of medieval towns including nearby Castellina.

This one-storey house will suit a party of six well, with its open-plan area for cooking, dining and relaxing, off which you’ll find three good-sized bedrooms and two large bathrooms. The vibe here is modern meets country cottage, with a nod to traditional Tuscan-style with the terracotta floor tiles. Casetta Erika exudes a homely atmosphere that can be made cosier still in cooler months by gathering round the fireplace. We’re sure it will soon become your home from home.

Our Thoughts

This is such a pretty little cottage and very convenient being all on one level. It’s a place where you’re most likely to spend your time outdoors. There’s plenty to tempt you out, after all – the large terrace that wraps around two sides of the property, the attractively landscaped garden, the views across the fields, and, of course, the refreshing pool. Pour a glass of wine, open your book, put your feet up – and relax.

Pool

There is a prefabricated sunken pool in the garden, down a flight of steps next to the house. It is surrounded by lawn, on which a couple of deckchairs have been set, and is screened by a hedge. At the top of the steps, overlooking the pool, is the end of the wraparound terrace, furnished with a couple of sunloungers, shaded by a parasol, and a table and chairs. The water is entered via metal ladder steps. There is a changing room nearby.
