With a great mix of coastal habitats including wide sandy beaches, rolling sand dunes, salt and clay marshes and picturesque quays all waiting to be explored, whether it is the season to sunbathe and go wild swimming or better suited to blustery winter walks, you will not be disappointed.
Head to beautiful Brancaster beach or visit the family favourite resort of Hunstanton and take a seasonal boat trip out to see the seals. Or venture a little further and visit Wells-next-the-Sea where you can watch the pretty little boast bobbing on the tide while sitting on the picturesque quay. Those who love history will also be spoilt for choice with the Hanseatic Quarter of Old Kings Lynn, Norwich Castle, Castle Acre, Peckover House and the Sandringham, Houghton, and Holkham Estates all withing easy reach. Bird lovers will love the fact that they are almost onsite at Thornham Harbour, which is an excellent birding venue, with waders and wildfowl on the seaward side, birds such as wheatears, twite and linnets mainly on the landward side, and marsh harriers almost ever-present over the grazing marshes.
RSPB Snettisham is also within easy reach and you can be in the heart of Wellney Wetlands in around an hour too. And having worked up an appetite with all that sightseeing you will be delighted to discover that this part of Norfolk is enjoying something of a burgeoning foodie scene too. From fish and chips to high end cuisine and from artisan delis to inviting inns serving fresh local produce, you will find it all here.
