Description

Refurbished over the past 3 years. Adjoined to family home (owners 17thc. Thatched Cottage), with its own private access, this spacious 'cottage-style' property is perfectly placed in the heart of the village, yet tucked away at the end of a private lane.

A stone’s throw from village shops selling tasty pasties and Devon ice creams, as well your everyday basics, post office, surf shops and hire, and just around the corner the famous Thatched Barn Inn and Billy Budd’s. Manor Cottage is minutes from the footpath to Croyde beach (easy level walk about 10 minutes), so it is ideally placed for those warm beach days, a short stroll or surfing some legendary waves. We have three great beaches on our doorstep – Croyde renowned for its surf, Putsborough more sheltered and Saunton. Manor Cottage provides the ideal base from which to explore this fabulous coastline on foot, bike, bus or even horse. It is a great spot for a long break or a quick getaway.

Manor Cottage annexe has a family-friendly layout, arranged over two floors: Accommodation is flexible and ideal for families, couples, and small groups of friends.

Upstairs - Bedroom One has a comfortable kingsize bed, Bedroom Two is a family room overlooking the mature chestnut trees and garden, and has a double bed and bunk beds. Both rooms have plenty of storage for clothes.

There are two bathrooms; upstairs the bathroom has a bath and toilet. The ground floor bathroom has a walk- in shower, large heated towel rail and toilet.

Downstairs: Well-equipped kitchen/dining area with cooker/oven/grill, microwave, dishwasher, good- sized fridge freezer, washing machine and dryer, extendable dining table for 5, as well as basic pantry items.

With its glorious view of the garden, the beamed lounge comfortably seats 5 and has a TV with Freeview/DVD player and a selection of local book club books to flick through at your leisure. Wi-Fi is available at no extra charge.

Lounge patio door leads onto a secluded and sun-filled patio, surrounded by sweet chestnut trees and summer blooms, perfect for a late breakfast or evening bbq. Patio has table and chairs and bbq (charcoal not included) just right for al fresco dining.

Beyond, is a lovely enclosed lawned garden, ideal for children to play or just to peacefully relax listening to the birds and the sea. This is a shared garden, but, large enough for guests to enjoy their own space.

Practicalities:
Parking for one car - possibly another small car (by prior arrangement), shared private car port.
Area to rinse and hang wetsuits.
Please ask about discounts on weeks out of peak season.

Out and about:
Whatever the time of year, there is always something to do!
Ideas locally:
Short journey by car to Georgeham where there are two award-winning pubs, family friendly with great food and live music.
Just minutes by car:
Putsborough beach – sheltered and ideal for swimming or messing about in rock pools. It has a great café’ for a hearty breakfast or a sneaky hot chocolate!
Closest village/town:
5 miles by car is Braunton – independent shops for gifts, supermarket for supplies, bank and a selection of local eateries and takeaway – Thai, award-winning fish and chips (Squires), or lunch at The Riverside, watching the world go by.
Plenty of walking - coastal footpath and spectacular cliff walks - Baggy Point is practically on your doorstep - why not finish your walk with a delicious cream tea at the May Cottage Tearooms. If you are looking for a little more adventure why not try rock climbing or even coasteering.
Further afield:
Trips to Lundy Island, exploring the old fishing villages of Appledore and Clovelly, theme parks – Big Sheep and Milky Way, Ilfracombe Harbour (fishing and day trips) and Verity (Damian Hurst's statue), Exmoor, RHS Rosemoor and Broomhill Sculpture Gardens. For National Trust members we have Baggy Point/beach car park and Arlington Court (about 40 minutes drive).

This is a great base from which to explore the glorious North Devon coast and countryside.
