#### Location
Calahonda is one of the many towns dotted along the Costa del Sol that sprang up in the 1960's. Situated between Marbella and Fuengirola, and only 20 minutes drive from Malaga, it is perfectly situated to explore this popular stretch of coastline. Favoured by Brits, this rather lively town offers an abundance of shopping, dining and entertainment.
The majority of the town is devoted to offering up some fantastic villas, townhouses, golf courses and every amenity imaginable. There are three commercial centres offering over 45 restaurants, cafes and pubs and shops. There is also the excellent Club del Sol, which features a gym, tennis, swimming pool and aerobics. And if nightlife is key then Calahonda offers up plenty of late bars and a small selection of nightclubs open till the small hours. However you are only ever a short taxi ride from the plethora of opportunities in Marbella.
You'll even find a small beach in the centre of town next to the Marina with a selection of chiringuitos. However just a 15 minute walk will take you to a lovely 4km stretch of golden sand at Cabopino – offering up a great selection of water sports including some fantastic diving, and some delicious seafood restaurants behind the attractive sand dunes. There is even a nudist beach here for the more adventurous!
For some lovely day trips try nearby Mijas Pueblo – Andalusia's most popular white village with its winding cobbled streets filled with craft shops, the picturesque port of Puerto Cabopino and of course the larger draw of nearby upmarket Marbella. And for big and little kids alike, there are numerous nearby activities, from local waterparks, to the Selwo Safari park, seeing the dolphins at Selwo Marina in Benalmadena, wakeboarding or Waterskiing at the park in San Pedro or even climbing the trees at Amazonia Adventure Park in Elviria. Phew!
