Description

Villa Formoso is set within a huge working wine estate dating back over two hundred years. The history of the region can be seen in the stone buildings with interiors that were carefully and lovingly restored in 2020. The accommodation is made up of two separate buildings. One described locally as the Farmhouse and the other the Cottage. The Farmhouse can accommodate up to ten people with a large master bedroom with a mezzanine level allowing it to comfortably sleep four – or two – whichever you prefer. The cottage is the smaller but no less characterful sibling, sleeping four. It is worth noting that both buildings are fully self-contained with their own kitchens and living rooms making it possible for members of the party to mix as little or as much as they wish. There is also a Main House on site which will occasionally be used by the owner in an unobtrusive manner.
The owner has managed to combine the original features such as high ceilings and solid exposed stone walls with all the comforts that we have come to expect of our holiday accommodation in the 21st century such as air conditioning, modern appliances and ensuite bathrooms.
As well as interiors that flow, open plan living and light touch décor the outside is equally amazing. The Farmhouse has a south facing terrace off the kitchen and the property also has a completely separate al fresco dining terrace overlooking the pool. Perfect for long lunches or hours spent over a delicious evening barbeque. The pool itself can be heated at an extra cost if you are travelling at the beginning or end of the season. As well as being very well provided for perhaps the best part of the exterior to this accommodation is the fact that you are taking your holiday right in the middle of a beautiful working vineyard.
We’re sure you will be enchanted by the charm of this duo of properties which truly capture the essence of the region – especially is you happen to visit during the grape harvest. Please note: both properties are located on a working wine estate so at certain times you might see friendly estate workers.
