Description

You can reach the house via a driveway lined with palm trees. It is surrounded by typical Mallorcan vegetation (palm trees, olive trees, oleander, and other Mediterranean plants) which is beautifully embedded into the natural surroundings. Start the day early in the morning by hopping into the heated saltwater infinity pool. The water is automatically disinfected using a UV-assisted salt electrolysis process. The water is thus safely disinfected, is free of annoying chlorine odour and very pleasant for eyes and skin. Afterwards you can let yourself dry on one of the high-quality sun loungers in the strong morning sun.

The area directly in front of the inviting, covered terrace is partially tiled, partially strewn with pebbles. Together with the olive tree islands, this space is almost reminiscent of a Mediterranean interpretation of a Japanese zen garden. In the shade of a carob and an olive tree a boules court is situated close to the terrace. In the evening you can play the "Petanca winner" here with a glass of wine (balls available). On the terrace, rattan seating furniture and a high-quality wooden dining table invite you to relax and unwind. On the estate itself as well as in the immediate surroundings, you can enjoy an untouched part of nature that will particularly appeal to ornithology enthusiasts (don't forget your binoculars!). Hoopes, nightingales, and Sardinian warblers are regular guests at the villa, and with a bit of luck you might spot an owl or stone curlew, whose exotic calls will often accompany you through the evening. While non-irrigated areas of the villa remain brown in the summer, they present a magnificent, richly coloured sea of blossoms in the spring.

El Retiro can accommodate six people in three tasteful double rooms which you will find on the first floor of the building. All bedrooms are equipped with mosquito nets, and two of the rooms have direct access to a large balcony which extends along the entire front of the house. From here, you have a great view over Ses Salines all the way to the island of Cabrera. The third room has a small balcony facing east. The villa features three bathrooms with showers. Two are on the first floor, one of them en-suite. The third bathroom is located on the ground floor. The ground floor is also the living space: Here, you will find an elegant dining room with a dark wooden table, a fully equipped kitchen with direct access to the north-facing terrace. This terrace offers a more pleasant spot to enjoy breakfast at the height of summer than the south-facing terrace, which is already drenched in sun at this time. Furthermore, you will find a cosy living room with a desk, sky-blue couch, and a fireplace. Central heating as well as the heated pool offer pleasant comfort during the cooler seasons. In the living room, you can take advantage of big UHD smart TV with satellite connection (ASTRA 19.2 east) with which you can receive international TV channels.

When you do feel the urge to embark on an adventure, the villa is only 8 km away from Colonia de Sant Jordi with its legendary sandy beaches. You won't get bored here, as you can partake in a wide range of water sports activities. Along the harbour promenade, you will find souvenir shops, bars, and a number of restaurants. You can hop on a bike (S’Escapada Bikes in Campos will deliver rental bicycles straight to the villa!) and cycle all the way to Santanyí (8 km) along beautiful, stone-lined agricultural roads. The picturesque weekly market that takes place here on Wednesdays or Saturdays is worth a visit. But the longest sandy beach in Mallorca (Es Trenc) can also be easily reached by bike along similar paths (9 km). On the way to Es Trenc, you will pass the saltworks. Salt is still produced here today, including the well-known Flor de Sal. We also recommend a guided tour through the saltworks. The lagoons around the saltworks are a paradise for ornithologists. This is where avocets, ruddy turnstones, and many other waders frolic. You might even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some flamingos. The nearest town, Ses Salines, is just 2 km away. In the small Mallorcan town, you will find all the shopping options you need and several outstanding restaurants you can pay a visit to during an evening walk.
