Description

Casa del Fiume is a south-facing self-contained wing of an Eco-friendly stone-built country house that has recently been restored, situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty by the Majella National Park. 5 acres of grounds with walnut groves and various fruit trees sweeps down to the fast flowing mountain river Aventino, with access to private river beach. Spectacular views. Ideal Eco country retreat for adults and older children. Own private sun-drenched terrace with spectacular mountain views and large teak garden table and chairs, traditional BBQ with chimney. 2 teak loungers are also provided. Casa del Fiume is owned by local artist/designer, so the walls display original works of contemporary art and designer flair and style is everywhere - mixing the antique with the contemporary. Downstairs has a large kitchen, a dining-room with wood-burning stove and an ample lounge with a wood-burning stove. Upstairs has a modern shower room and three bedrooms - one large double, one twin and one single.

Help from the owners: 5 acre grounds are shared with the owners, who live in the adjacent house.
English Italian-speaking owners are on hand to welcome you and advise you where to shop, eat and visit.
PlayStation 2 is available on loan, as are DVDs and CDs.
English language guide books of the area available on loan too!
Portable artist easels and stools are available on loan.
Mountain bikes are available locally to hire.
Owners can help in organising local wineries tours, brewery tours, Slow Food tastings, guided mountain walks, visits to the best markets and much more! Simply ask before arrival.

Owners eco statement: 'Casa del Fiume' is in the area known as 'The Green Lung of Europe' so guests are encouraged to treat the unrivalled scenic beauty of this area with respect. Most refuse is recycled, including on-site composting. The villa contains low voltage lighting throughout. Wood utilised for heating is supplied from local renewable sources including owner's own woodlands. Whilst currently electricity comes from the local grid, the adjacent Lake of Sant'Angelo is dammed to provide a renewable source of electricity to that grid. The owner has also installed solar panels to provide electricity to the local grid. Guests are also encouraged to support the local community by visiting local attractions, restaurants, bars, shops and other local facilities.

Children: Children are welcome. However we do not have facilities such as a cot and high-chair for babies. The stairs are steep and of marble with no stair-gate. The property is not really suitable for children under the age of five years old.
