Description

Located at the foot of a cliff in the sunny area of Calheta and perched overlooking the ocean, Casa do Paraiso II has been beautifully converted from a farmers’ barn into a colourful, charming villa where tranquility and privacy reign. The owner has decorated the villa in lovely colours that reflect the old fishing cottages of Madeira. The open plan air-conditioned living area is full of light and has full length sliding windows that directly overlook the beach and sea. The fully equipped kitchen is complemented by an adjacent barbecue area with a Madeiran style built-in barbecue. The master bedroom with ensuite bathroom is on the first floor, while the second bedroom is below it and is situated next to the family bathroom. The third bedroom with ensuite bathroom is in the loft of what was once the barn and is reached via a separate staircase. All the bedrooms have air-conditioning. The villa is secluded and very private, and positioned off the beaten track, accessed via a narrow steep driveway. The whole house and grounds are perched on the edge of the land, only 30 metres above the pebble beach and affords astounding views - you feel at one with the ocean. A lovely little beach hut is located right on the rocky beach 30 metres below, and shared by the neighbouring Casa do Paraiso villas. Access is via a pathway with steps that leads from the level of the cottage down to the beach. A front terrace with sunbeds, outdoor shower and built-in barbecue and large table (seating for 16), is complemented with a kitchen (fridge, 4-ring hob) and toilet. There are many walks around Calheta and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra, with its many levada walks, makes this villa perfectly located for walking in Madeira and for enjoying a lovely holiday surrounded by the beautiful Madeira countryside. A few minutes by car will take you to the resort town of Calheta, which, with its man-made golden beaches, is popular with tourists and locals alike. There is a beautiful marina and a good choice of bars and restaurants. There are a handful of boutique shops and a good supermarket. Car hire is essential at Casa do Paraiso II as the villa is located off the beaten track, just above sea-level at the bottom of the cliff. Confident drivers will be rewarded with total tranquillity and privacy in this unique location. However as the access is narrow and steep, for your peace of mind you should hire a smaller size car.
