. Situated in the heart of the exquisite village of Mousehole (with its harbour, sandy beach, art galleries and cafes), this former net loft stands as one of a row in a secluded position. Built in 1851, the holiday home has been sympathetically refurbished and retains many character features. Set yards from the sea, visitors can explore the winding streets and coastal paths, and in winter enjoy the Mousehole Christmas illuminations. Alternatively, Penzance and the Minack Theatre – an open air theatre hewn into the cliff - or Sennen (famous for surfing and its wide sandy beach) make for enjoyable days out. Shop 50 yards.

Please ensure on your departure that all your bins and rubbish including nappies are bagged and put outside in the green / red wheelie bin provided at the top of Driftwoods's courtyard. None of your rubbish including fridge and freezer food contents should remain in the cottage please. Thank you in advance for this.

Driftwood is available after 5.00pm to allow sufficient time for cleaning on the date of your arrival. The cleaner will arrive promptly at 9.00am on the day of your departure.
There is a light sensor on the front entrance porch door so you should be able to see the combination lock. The on/off switch for this can be located high up on the righthand side in the electric cupboard by the front door.
The front door combination lock handle should be turned the clockwise to gain entry.
The beds will be made up for your arrival. Bed linen, one bath towel and one hand towel per person tea towels and bath mats will be provided. Please remember to bring along your own beach towels as we now do not provide those.
We have installed electric and manual leather sofas for your comfort in the lounge.
Please note the following safety advice: - Caution: - Ensure children and pets are clear of the chair/sofa when it is being operated, and children are supervised whilst on or around the chair/sofa. Do not try to retrieve objects from the chair/sofa whilst in motion. Do not use the chair/sofa for lifting objects. The footrest should only support feet and legs. Do not swivel whilst reclined. Do not attempt to exit the chair/sofa whilst in the reclined position, wait until the chair/sofa is fully closed.
The upstairs water heater switch can be turned on when required on the wall above the dishwasher. The downstairs water heater switch can be located on the worktop to the right-hand side of the kitchen sink labelled appropriately.
We have replaced the electric storage heaters with new state of the art electric heaters. During the winter months they are self-regulating and vary in heat output to keep the temperature constant so there should be no need to change any settings.

A stair gate for the top of the spiral staircase is positioned by the fridge upstairs.
There are window restrictors fitted on the bedroom windows upstairs which we ask our guests to leave locked except in cases of emergency. Thank you. The keys for these and the window handle locks should be positioned on the end of the curtain rail in the balconette bedroom and above the "In case of fire board" just outside the twin bedroom in the upstairs kitchen. Please replace them up on the curtain rail and above the "In case of fire board" if somebody has left them in the window locks so that you know where to find them for safety reasons.
There is a takeaway next door but one called Jessie's Dairy which is ideal for your ice cream's, pasties and drinks. The nearest biggest supermarket is Tesco or Morrisons or Sainsburys in Penzance (a bus or a taxi ride away- 3 miles away) or there is a Co-operative store in Newlyn which is within about 25 minutes walking distance of Mousehole itself (all on the flat along the promenade).
There is a regular local bus service that runs every 20minutes at Mousehole harbour front (you will see the bus stop directly opposite the pink cottage). A bus service also runs to Sennen Cove (just before Lands End) Directions: From Newlyn continue along the coast road until you reach Mousehole. There is no parking at Driftwood. There is free parking on the promenade on the left just before the Old Coastguard Hotel on your approach or there are 2 Car parks pay and display at the harbour. The car park above the Rockpool café. The 3rd car park at the far end of Mousehole right on the beach and this does entail driving through the narrow streets past the Ship Inn bearing right and then left down towards the small beach.
In order to find Driftwood, look for the village clock tower on the right on the harbour front and then go right by the clock tower into Fore Street, Driftwood is 20 metres up Fore Street on the left with its own long private courtyard just past Jessie's Dairy.
The cot at this property is a travel cot. Please bring your own cot linen.
Smoking is not permitted within this property.
This property has either steep or spiral stairs and extra care must be taken especially if you have children in the party.

Rubbish disposal information:
We have been able to obtain a waste wheelie bin for Driftwood for our general rubbish disposal, which is marked Driftwood 15, positioned in Driftwood's front courtyard. Please tie bags and place them in the wheelie. All the waste goes into the same bag the waste company will process and recycle waste. Loose waste will not be collected. Please put your waste bags into the designated bin red wheelie bin with a green lid near the top end of Driftwood's courtyard as they will collect the bagged waste, there is no need to move the bin from Driftwood as it will be emptied on your departure.
