Description

A contemporary villa in a rural setting close to the city of Modica, Casa Mare Blu is an ideal holiday home for exploring both Sicilian country and coast. Set within attractive gardens and with countryside on the doorstep, this light and airy villa provides a tranquil escape for a family or group of friends.
The interior of Casa Mare Blu reflects its proximity to both the rural terrain and the sea. From the stone and blue colour themes, to the carefully chosen paintings on the walls, there's a calming sense of nature throughout. Large windows in the four bedrooms also help bring the outside in, with one also having doors opening straight onto a terrace. Taking in views of the surrounding scenery from the first-floor bedrooms is the perfect way to start each morning.

Open-plan and sociable, the ground-floor living space flows beautifully. Easily move between the sofa, dining table and kitchen for cosy evenings, whilst appreciating the cooling atmosphere after sunny afternoons spent in the garden. The space offers direct access to a covered terrace for al-fresco dining, which itself leads down onto the swimming pool and surrounding greenery. Sip a cocktail on a sun lounger by the pool, or dive straight in and enjoy a refreshing dip.

Casa Mare Blu is in a fantastic location for exploring ancient sites, historic towns and cities and the stunning coast. The nearest city, Modica, is mostly known for its Baroque architecture and chocolate. Visit the chocolate museum and sample some of the sweet treats for yourself in its chocolate shops.

Other picture-postcard places to visit include the hilltop town of Ragusa and the beaches of Marina di Modica and Sampieri; all of which are within a 30-minute drive. Slightly further afield is the iconic city of Syracuse, with its ancient ruins and old town of Ortigia.

#### Location

There are several restaurants, bars and shops around a 15-minute drive away. Head to the nearby city of Modica to stock up on groceries, browse the shops and enjoy delicious meals out.
Modica is also full of history, withmany Baroque buildings lining its streets. It's home to two beautiful cathedrals called Duomo di San Pietro and Duomo di San Giorgio, which are both must-sees. Also stroll around the Museo Civico to see a range of archaeological finds, such as fossils and ceramics. The chocolate museum is also sure to be incredibly popular with children! Modica has long been connected with chocolate making, and several chocolate shops can be found throughout the city.
Even more history can be explored at the Archaeological area of Cava d'Ispica. This site features ancient cave homes and burial sites carved into a mountain, for both stunning views inside and out.
The hilltop town of Ragusa offers some designer shops alongside more day-to-day outlets, so it's an ideal place for fashion lovers. Its old town is where you'll find impressive examples of Baroque architecture. The gardens of Giardino Ibleo public park are a lovely place to take a break from sightseeing and enjoy panoramic views over the valleys that surround the town.
Just 30 minutes away is the picturesque coast, with sandy beaches atspots such as Sampieri and Marina di Modica. The latter offers ideal conditions for activities such as surfing and windsurfing. Sampieri is quieter, with a traditional fishing village feel and shallow waters for swimming.
The city of Syracuse is great for a longer day out, with the drive there taking just over an hour. Its main attraction is the old town called Ortigia, with its array of historic buildings and atmosphere. Visit the well-preserved ancient Greek theatre, Teatro Greco, which is still used for performances to this day.
