Antigua is a small Caribbean Island, famous for its serene bays, lush green headlands, coral reefs and blue lagoons - not to mention the fact that it boasts 365 beaches, one for every day of the year! Here, families and couples alike will have endless opportunities to explore the wonders of the ocean whilst soaking up the sunshine. The nation of Antigua and Barbuda is made up of two sister islands and several smaller islets, all situated in the heart of the Caribbean. Surrounded by dense green hilltops, Ffryes Beach is a popular spot with tourists and locals alike. Here, you can spend the day snorkeling in the turquoise waters, before indulging in an excellent dinner at one of the restaurants on the marina at nearby Jolly Harbour. Slightly further afield, Nelson’s Dockyard National Park is one of five national parks in Antigua. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this eighteenth-century British naval dockyard is an area of great historical significance on the island, as well as a popular venue for maritime events and activities. For those who wish to experience the magic for themselves, there are plenty of sailing excursions and water-based activities available. There are plenty of fantastic trekking trails around the island, taking in sandy beaches, rainforests and dreamlike coastal views. For a challenging hike, put on your hiking shoes and visit Mount Obama, the highest peak in Antigua. From the summit, enjoy the panoramic views, before descending to Cades Bay for a delightfully refreshing dip in the ocean. Shirley Heights is another popular destination. A restored military lookout, this is a spot known for its bewitching views and community feel.
