Description

Villa Milena is a tastfully-decorated abode set majestically within its own parkland surrounded by luscious greenery, with its own generously-sized pool, set on a hilltop overlooking the south-western shores of Lake Maggiore.

Crafted in local stone, with elegant shutters and creamy tones, this chic retreat is set on an elevated position with sumptuous views of the lake and surrounding mountains and villages. 12 guests can be accommodated across 6 bedrooms within airy and light-filled spaces, setting the scene for a wonderful group or family holiday in Northern Italy.

The immaculately manicured lawns offer the ideal spot for reclining by the pool with a good book, whilst the dining terrace is a serene space for al fresco meals or evening drinks on balmy evenings beneath the stars.

The interiors offer a stylish blend of contemporary with nods to original baroque style. A sophisticated monochrome palette gives the living space a touch of grandeur, whilst it is very liveable with low-key ease. A modern kitchen features top-grade fittings and an eat-in option for casual dining. The bedrooms are refreshingly simple, gracefully finished with pretty accents of colour.

No more than ten minutes drive to the lakeside villages of Pallanza and Verbania, Villa Milena benefits from the attractions and natural beauty that the shores of Lake Maggiore offer.

Verbania is a pretty lakeside town known as "the garden on the lake.” It has a stunning botanical garden with plant species from around the world. The region is plentiful for water sports, riding and hill walking, whilst ferries from Verbania offer trips to the enchanting Borromean Islands, or, across the lake to Laverno. Pallanza is an elegant town with Roman origins, rich heritage and the beautiful San Stefano church. Its lakefront is one of the finest on Lake Maggiore; the promenade is a treat, with the glittering lake peppered with islands on one side, with pretty colourful terraces, flower-filled balconies and independent cafes on the other.

#### Location
Villa Milena is set overlooking the southwestern shore of Lake Maggiore. Lake Maggiore is the second-largest of the Italian lakes, extending north into Switzerland, known for its refined lakeside towns and elegant architecture. Within just a ten minute drive, visitors can enjoy the pretty town of Verbania, known as the “garden on the lake” and the elegant town of Pallanza with its vistas across the Borromean Gulf.

One of Verbania's highlights is Villa Taranto's botanical garden. Offering no less than 40 acres of rare plant species, English style gardens, Italianate fountains and ornate styling, it is well worth a visit. Verbania also hosts a museum dedicated to landscapes (Museo del Paesaggio) where visitors will be spoilt with breathtaking views of the surrounding Alps; a key centre for artistic heritage in the region.

From Verbania, visitors can hop on a boat over to the spectacular Borromean Islands, or the lakeside town of Stresa. Stresa is about 20 minutes drive away and is known for its sophisticated vibe and genteel setting for musical and cultural events.

The Borromean Islands, with their palaces dripping in ornate grandeur and ornamental gardens, are a must-see for visitors to the region. Only 20 minutes away, Isola Bella is one of the region's gems. The largest of Borromean islands, Isola Bella is home to palatial homes and gardens that set a new standard for baroque garden design, while opulence, Art Nouveau architecture and stunning lakeside views for coffee encapsulate the spirit of beautiful Stresa.

Pallanza's promenade is one of the region's finest, it is set against a backdrop of intricate porticos, vibrant verandas overspilling with flowers and local eateries. For a downtown atmosphere, Intra Verbania offers boutiques and shopping, or, Milan is only an hour and a half away, for a trip to the fashion capital of Europe!
