Description

Villa Montalla is a characteristic middle age tower, its origins date back to the year 1000 A.C. Based on the documents found, the villa should have been the property of Cardinal Passerini, state secretary and counsellor of Pope Leone X Medici in the XVI century. The coat of arms of the Cardinal Passerini, sculpted in the imposing stone fireplace, testify his presence here.

The building has been carefully restored to make it comfortable and enjoyable but still preserving the original characteristics such as the wooden beamed ceilings and terracotta floors in the tower. The furnishing is the typical Tuscan old style, simple and essential but elegant and refined.

Villa Montalla is located close to the Etruscan town of Cortona (only 2.5 km away) and within easy access to the most important South Tuscan towns (such as Montepulciano, Pienza and Montalcino) and the Umbria region.

Accommodation: the villa is 130 square meters and can accommodate 7+1 persons in 4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. It extends on three levels (including the tower):

First floor: you access the first floor of the villa by an external staircase and enter a large kitchen/living room with a typical stone fireplace. On the same floor you can find two spacious bedrooms: one double and one twin. Beside there is a small bathroom with shower.

Second floor (tower): from the living room a typical wooden stairway leads to a passage way room with a double bed and a full bathroom with shower. Terracotta brickwork decorate this floor and the windows.

A second wooden staircase gives access to the top floor of the tower with a double bed, terracotta floor and a small Gothic window.

The villa can accommodate 7 persons and a maximum of 8 with a child under 10.

Garden and swimming pool: the private fenced swimming pool (4 x 11 meters and 1.15 deep) is located in front of the villa and equipped with sunbeds and sun umbrellas.

Nice pergolas host the outside barbecue and the outdoor dining area with table and chairs.
