Description

As you approach your villa, you'll start to smell the salty sea air, as "Placer" is a mere 6 km from the Mediterranean sea. The villa itself is like an oasis in the middle of the countryside – you might be just a short drive away from the bustling town of Cala Ratjada, but here on your 15,000 m² estate you can enjoy the peace and quiet and live life at your own pace. And then there's the terrific view of the town you've got from the pool up here! At 8 x 4 metres, it's not going to top the Mediterranean waters, but there's no need to leave the estate if you want to have a refreshing dip after getting out of bed or swim a lap or two as the sun's going down. But maybe none of that interests you right now – next to a lawn where the kids can play amongst a handful of freestanding trees, you're drawn in by the expansive terrace area. It goes nearly all the way around the house; it can also be covered with a textile awning so you'll have a shady spot on those hot summer days where you can just let go and relax. And if you should find yourself getting hungry, of course there's a BBQ out here that's just waiting to provide you and your loved ones with delicious grilled treats.

Entering the villa from the outside, the covered entryway leads right into the heart of the property:a large, comfortably furnished room where you can just enjoy life on holiday with your friends and loved ones. In one corner, there's a cosy sofa where you can sit and watch an exciting movie on the flat-screen TV. In the middle of the room, there's a dining table where everyone can gather to tell stories or talk about their plans for the day. Three sets of French doors lead out onto the splendid terrace from here and let in lots of light, providing the perfect setting for the stylish, light-coloured furniture. The fully equipped kitchen leaves nothing to be desired – it also has a high counter, and there's enough room to prepare even a lavish feast. One of the bedrooms is located right next to the big dining/living room, and the other two bedrooms are accessed by a hallway. For us, it was the bedrooms that confirmed our first impression of this house – an all-around welcoming ambience with colourful accents that makes it incredibly easy to feel right at home. And since there aren't any steps or stairs in the house, this villa is also a good place for wheelchair users.

It's just 5 km to the resort town of Cala Ratjada, which has a picturesque harbour and a wide variety of bars and restaurants. When it comes to beaches, you can try a different one every day – in this part of Mallorca, you're always encountering new beach spots where you can listen to the sound of the surf far away from any noisy crowds. The little medieval towns of Artà and Capdepera have fortunately managed to hold onto their traditional character – in contrast to the tourist spots along the coast, these places offer a glimpse of life in Mallorca shaped as it has been by centuries of living so close to the sea. Even in winter, there's a lot of economic activity going on in both towns, with a wide variety of shops and restaurants. It's also worth visiting the Parc Natural northeast of Artà, one of Mallorca's largest conservation areas, connecting the mountains of Llevant with fabulous beaches, cliffs, and coves on the coast. The area has become a rather popular and well-developed destination for hiking and rock climbing in recent years, yet at the same time it's mostly quiet and devoid of people. To sum up: An excellent villa in an absolutely quiet location with plenty of opportunities to enjoy everything the island has to offer!
