Description

Surrounded by 12 hectares of pine forest, Comporta Villa is a modern and luxurious place to stay, just 10 minutes' drive from the beaches at Pego and Carvalhal. This somewhat undiscovered stretch of coast to the south of Lisbon has plenty to see and do, and Comporta Villa makes the perfect base with its elegant pool and terrace in a wonderfully secluded setting.

This villa features four en-suite bedrooms, as well as a separate apartment which sleeps a further four guests. Each bedroom opens out onto its own outdoor seating area, and the master bedroom has access to a larger private terrace with panoramic views of the countryside – also visible from its impressive marble bathroom with bath tub and two showers. This suite on the first floor is extremely spacious and has a dressing area with fitted wardrobes as well as a minibar.

The style is kept clean and minimalist throughout the villa, allowing you to really enjoy the space. Light floods into the house via the floor-to-ceiling windows, while indoor olive trees provide an unusual touch which only adds to the feeling of freshness.

The main living area is comprised of a dining room and sitting room with fireplace, and an open-plan kitchen with service bar. The living area opens onto terraces on three sides. There's an outdoor dining area too, and a second lounge with another fireplace, so no shortage of places to chill out.

An extra, self-contained apartment is ideal for anyone wanting a little more privacy, and has its own double bedroom, kitchenette, dining and sitting room with a sofa-bed. The apartment opens out onto the decked terrace.

Chic Comporta is becoming a destination of choice, with its miles of golden, dune-filled beaches, and the beautiful pine and cork forests which are never far away. And while it may be a celebrity hideout these days, it keeps things low-key and peaceful – in fact, just as you would wish it to be.

#### Location
On Portugal's Alentejo coast, Comporta is a quiet beachside village which has recently found itself the topic of countless travel magazines' ‘next big thing' articles. More than a few A-listers have found their way to its endless golden beaches, and Comporta well deserves their attention. Unlike many resorts where such fame would result in high-rise hotels and noisy clubs springing up, Comporta's selling point is its simplicity.

The village lies at the foot of the Troia Peninsula, closer to Lisbon than many of the country's best-known resorts. The lack of a ‘scene' of any kind has been noted, so don't expect in-your-face nightlife or even strings of restaurants – it's far more understated in Comporta, but you will find a quiet place or two to hang out, often with food far better than the unpretentious vibe would suggest.

A beautiful place to just be – perhaps the secret of its success with its celebrity fans – Comporta is part of the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve. Look out for dolphins, sea birds and eagles among others. Whether you travel the beach on horseback or simply on foot, you will have much to appreciate. The landscapes are sublime and uncluttered, with rice paddies and pine forests adding character to the area. Crashing waves make Comporta a surfing favourite too, which seems to fit perfectly with the laid-back style of the place.

As the day ends, make sure you're in prime position to take in the, no doubt, stunning sunset – just one of the many advantages to being in the know about Comporta.
