Description

Set above a valley in the heart of Chianti, Macia Viva’s views make this private, stone-built villa very special. The manicured gardens open out to vine-clad hillsides and the valley beyond, with a perfect panorama offered by almost every room in the house. This two-bedroom, multi-level villa is a good choice for a small family and, with a separate kitchenette and bathrooms for both bedrooms, is also ideal for couples and friends. Terracotta tiles and wooden beams, a mellow colour scheme and stylish furnishings add sumptuous warmth, while picture windows keep rooms bright and airy.

The spacious and comfortable open-plan lounge-diner with adjoining kitchen opens onto a furnished front terrace and a second side terrace with an unusual L-shaped private pool. Both of these vantage points offer uninterrupted views across the hills and vineyards and you will doubtless seek them out for relaxation and al fresco dining. But there will be times when you’ll fancy a change of scene; Macia Viva is just outside Castellina, one of the main Chianti towns, with its choice of bars and restaurants, and an easy drive to Siena and Florence, both less than an hour away.

Our Thoughts

The spacious lounge-diner is a fantastic place to relax and eat, while the additional living area and small separate kitchenette provides privacy for couples or older family members. Thanks to the fantastic views across the valley, Macia Viva is a true celebration of the outdoors, a peaceful spot that offers an ideal location for appreciating the Tuscan landscapes, with its terraces and gardens.

Notes

Two bedrooms. Three bathrooms, two en-suite (one without shower), there is a third bathroom in the hall near the bedroom. Access to the pool is directly outside the lounge area. Because of the depth of the pool (1.6m), care needs to be taken with children and non-swimmers.

Pool

The L-shaped pool wraps around one corner of the villa. It is surrounded by a paved terrace set with sun loungers and, shaded by an awning, a table and chairs. The water is accessible via two sets of internal steps. The pool area is fenced.

Pool size:  10m x 5m, 1.6m deep. Open May through September, weather permitting.
