If you’re looking for a retreat close to the seaside, Whinstone Lodge in Bamburgh on the Northumberland coast is a great choice. Just a 5-minute drive from the beach, this homely chalet style property sleeps six guests making it perfect for family staycations and getaways with friends.



The Space:

Flooded with light, Whinstone Lodge has a spacious kitchen diner with a vaulted ceiling and floor to ceiling windows. Fully equipped for self-catering stays, you’ll have everything you could need to prepare meals easily. The dining area features a table with seating for six people so you can enjoy meals with your loved ones. Large bi-fold doors open out onto a decking area with outdoor furniture where you can have morning coffees and alfresco lunches.



The living area includes two comfy sofas and a matching armchair so it’s perfect for relaxing. Turn on the flat screen TV and unwind watching your favourite shows.



Whinstone Lodge has three spacious bedrooms. Head to the master bedroom and you’ll find an ensuite shower room and king size bed. The second bedroom has a king and the third bedroom is a twin.



The family bathroom has a spacious walk-in shower, WC and basin.

The Neighborhood:

Bamburgh is well known for its beautiful sandy shores. Its huge, open expanse of sand welcomes families, dog walkers and horse riders in abundance. You’ll soon forget the stresses of everyday life as you stroll along the beach hearing the waves lap the shoreline. Voted one of the best spots for surfing in the North East, Bamburgh is perfect for both beginners and seasoned pros. If you’d prefer to keep your feet firmly on the ground, head to England’s most northerly land-based lighthouse. From here, you can take in stunning views of the Holy Island and children will love to have a go at rock pooling.



Bamburgh Castle is a striking Grade I listed building which has stood on the Northumberland coastline for over 1,400 years. Known as one of the finest castles in the country, there is a wealth of history to uncover during your visit. The castle was one of the world’s first coastguard stations and the site for the development of the world’s first lifeboat! It was also home to a school and hospital, and it’s believed to have been occupied for 10,000 years.



Getting Around:

The nearest train station to Bamburgh is at Chathill which is 7 miles away. The closest East Coast Main Line train stations are located in Alnmouth or Berwick-upon-Tweed which are roughly 30 minutes away from Bamburgh by car.



Bamburgh is very well served by local buses. Hop on the Arriva X18 route which has stops in Seahouses, Alnwick, Amble and Newcastle.
