Situated in the Western Province on the edge of coastal Bentota, a typical Sri Lankan town and stopping off place for tourists. The villa is in the real Sri Lanka, surrounded by friendly locals and relatives of the owner who speak English, are very approachable and ready to offer advice, help and support which is priceless to tourists new to the area. The owner's sister and mother are excellent cooks and are happy to provide typical Sri Lankan dishes for guests on request. Local amenities include vegetable, meat and fish markets, fresh fish at the harbour landed by local fishermen, supermarkets including western style outlets, clothes shops, Sri Lankan cafes and tea shops, chemists, electronics etc. Bentota has good transport links including cheap iconic tuk tuks for local trips, a bus station within walking distance of the villa which provides local travel and access to the train station and further buses at Aluthgama (8 minutes away) opening up the whole of Sri Lanka. Local attractions include Bentota beach providing water sports including snorkelling and diving, Bentota River offering a range of water sports at reasonable prices, fishing tours, boat tours, temples, restaurants, and craft outlets selling local crafts. Day trips from here include the historic settlement of Galle, Hikkaduwa, a typical Sri Lankan seaside resort and the capital Columbo which contains numerous attractions. The villa has been a popular stopping off point for those touring attractions further afield in Sri Lanka, the coast road takes visitors further down the west coast and to the south of the country, past numerous seaside resorts. Access to inland areas for example Ella and Kandy and the north of Sri Lanka via Colombo is also easy.
