Casa do Paraiso I is the perfect choice for those who want to get away from it all, relax and simply enjoy the beauty of Madeira's dramatic coastline. Located at the foot of a cliff in the sunny Calheta area, this villa is off the beaten track and accessed via a narrow steep driveway. This oasis of tranquillity is set amongst banana plantations and is only 30 metres above a deserted pebble beach, which you can enjoy almost to yourselves. Built with many traditional Madeiran materials and decorated in a rustic character style, this unique three bedroom villa with private pool is fully air-conditioned. The large chimney (under which you will find the fully equipped kitchen) is the centrepiece which is surrounded by the living area and bedrooms. The open plan lounge/dining area is raised, making the most of the superb coastal and sea views and leads to the garden and pool. The master bedroom, with ensuite bathroom, and one of the twin bedrooms, has direct access to the garden, and the third bedroom has a balcony with sea view. The outside space is phenomenal and the views will truly take your breath away. The doors from the lounge open on to the wooden terrace which surrounds the front area of the villa, with outdoor dining facilities and a built-in barbecue. The garden is large with a variety of indigenous plants and palm trees and leads down to the sunny swimming pool area, with sun loungers and parasols, the perfect spot to relax with a glass of wine and watch the beautiful sun sets. A lovely little beach hut is located right on the rocky beach 30 metres below, and shared by the neighbouring Casa do Paraiso villas. Access is via a pathway with steps that leads from the level of the cottage down to the beach. A front terrace with sunbeds, outdoor shower and built-in barbecue and large table (seating for 16), is complemented with a kitchen (fridge, 4-ring hob) and toilet. There are many walks around Calheta and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra, with its many levada walks, makes this villa perfectly located for walking in Madeira and for enjoying a lovely holiday surrounded by the beautiful Madeira countryside. A few minutes by car will take you to the resort town of Calheta, which, with its man-made golden beaches, is popular with tourists and locals alike. There is a beautiful marina and a good choice of bars and restaurants. There are a handful of boutique shops and a good supermarket. Car hire is essential at Casa do Paraiso I as the villa is located off the beaten track, just above sea-level at the bottom of the cliff. Confident drivers will be rewarded with total tranquillity and privacy in this unique location. However as the access is narrow and steep, for your peace of mind you should hire a smaller size car.
