Description

A quaint and comfortable efficiency cottage nestled into an historic downtown residential neighborhood. This 1 bedroom, 1 bath dwelling has been recently refurbished with our guests in mind. Though the kitchen is of limited scale, it is equipped for preparing meals of your making or enjoying the fare from local restaurants, dining in or on the deck. There are many eateries within walking distance. That stroll will also provide many options for your enjoyment--shopping, bakeries, breweries, art/craft galleries and studios, music venues, a Saturday tailgate market, museums, cinema, live theater, churches, a public library, post office, banks and our popular downtown festivals.
The bedroom is furnished with a comfort firm king bed and desk area. A flat screen smart TV with basic cable hangs in the common area. Wifi is provided. Should you be sharing your visit with your fur baby, a fenced front yard offers an area to stretch off leash. If you are biking our area, we have a bike wash station.

Brevard is an active community. We are home to the Brevard Music Center, a summer institute which hosts students and performers from around the globe and serves as the venue for Songsmith Gathering in April and Mountain Song Festival each September. Brevard College, a four year liberal arts college, has a wonderful venue in the Paul Porter Center. There are public parks, a sculpture trail, public pool, a hike/bike path that connects downtown to Pisgah National Forest, and walkable neighborhoods within our city limits. Our downtown transforms four times each year with spirited festivals. We salute the local celebrated phenomenon with the White Squirrel Festival over Memorial Day weekend. Great music, food trucks, street vendors, children's activities, and a gravity race down "Jailhouse Hill" provide lots of entertainment.
The Fourth of July festival begins a tribute to our country and those who served in its defense. Downtown events include a pet parade and antique auto show and wrap up with a stellar fireworks display for all to enjoy. Being Transylvania County, we are called to embrace the spirit of the season with Halloweenfest. It includes a costume parade for folks of all ages and manners of dress, downtown festivities, an old-time music competition, and trick-or-treating for the kids at participating downtown merchants. In early December, the annual Christmas parade brings out the community. That evening the Twilight Tour brings out the jingle and all that is merry and bright.

We are a gateway to Pisgah National Forest, one of the first national forests designated as such in the Eastern US and now one of the most visited national forests in the system. In its breadth are over 500,000 acres, many of which lie within our county. Quite appropriate for Transylvania--which is from Latin-Trans meaning "across" and Sylvan for "forest." Within its borders and those of our state forests-DuPont, Gorges, Holmes, and the newly designated Headwaters Conservancy-lie an abundance of hiking, biking, and horse trails, trout waters, game lands, paddle and float waterways, and over 250 waterfalls. As a temperate rainforest we receive an average annual rainfall of 71 inches to fuel those never-ending wonders of nature. Please exercise caution and good sense when enjoying their views.

This area has been referred to as "The Cycling Center of the South" with good reason. Whether pedaling the designated trails or the highways and biways, there are routes to enjoy and challenge any level of rider. The Assault on the Carolinas, White Squirrel Cycling Classic, Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race, Pisgah Mountain Bike Adventure Race and more bring riders here.

WNC offers a diverse choice of adventure and exploration. Within an hour's drive of Brevard is Asheville, Hendersonville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cashiers, and Highlands. Other lovely communities and towns await your arrival as well.

These hills we call home nurture us and our families throughout each season. May you find that spirit in your stay here.
