Description

Chalet la Chaux is a newly refurbished home nestled in the snow amongst a lovely residential area which sits just above the much loved Chatel village and offers breathtaking views over the valley below. Situated on the border between France and Switzerland, this is an excellent location to call home for your skiing holiday.
This calming, well-decorated house can accommodate ten people in five bedrooms and offers rustic surroundings filled with natural materials. Chalet la Chaux is a very social chalet, with a fully open-plan living space on the first floor. The gorgeous interiors will offer a wonderful backdrop as you and your party settle down for the evening by the log burner to play a board game or plan your adventures for the next day.

Leaving the comforting home behind for the day, you won't have to go far before you are on the slopes. You will find a chair lift located very near to the house which will take you to the pistes of Super-Chatel. This area is popular with ski schools and has great resources for children and beginners including a snow park and snowboarding slopes.

The chalet is located in the wider farming village of Chatel which is between two sections of the huge Portes du Soleil skiing circuit which spans 12 resorts. Chatel itself caters fabulously for all abilities with a mixture of beginner slopes and challenging wooded slopes. Should you wish to explore further into the wider area you could head up to the Swiss village of Torgon which has a children's activity village and brilliant snowshoe routes on offer as well as breathtaking views.

Winding down back at your chalet after an action-packed day, you will find a modern kitchen to prepare your evening meal and plenty of dining space to eat together if you haven't already filled up on local delicacies whilst out. Why not have a soak in your own outdoor hot tub to get rid of all your aches and pains before you hit the slopes again the next day. The children will be well-occupied in the TV and games room allowing you time to chat over a glass of wine.

For larger parties it is possible to rent sister property Chalet Du Pre Fleuri (sleeps 8) virtually next door - please follow the link for more information.

#### Location
Chalet la Chaux is located just a short distance from the traditional village of Chatel while being situated near to a ski-bus shuttle meaning you can split your time between tasting local cheeses and wines down in the village and hitting the slopes which are visible from balconies.

Chatel offers enough amenities to last the entire holiday without needing to step foot outside of the town, but should you wish to take in a bit more of France or hop over the border to Switzerland then this is the ideal place to stay.

In Chatel there is a wide range of choice when it comes to eating out. You can opt for fine dining restaurants or something simpler like a pizza. After your meal maybe your family would enjoy a trip to the bowling alley or cinema before heading back up to the chalet for a relaxing evening. The village also has a selection of shops where you can buy groceries to cook in the chalet or buy souvenirs to remember your trip by.

The resort is part of the Portes du Soleil skiing circuit which sprawls across France and Switzerland and gives you access to 196 ski lifts on to an impressive 286 ski slopes! There is no shortage of great skiing available in this region and everybody is catered for, from experts to those on their first ski trip. There are even skiing lessons available for the less able-bodied, so nobody should feel excluded on a big group holiday.

The Swiss villages of Torgon and Morgins offer an insight into Swiss culture without having to travel too far. Both are under an hour away and offer a lovely change of scenery. Make the most of a trip to Morgins by taking a horse-drawn carriage ride while soaking up the views or maybe snow go-karting is more to your taste. If heading to Torgon, the panoramic landscapes are well worth the slightly longer journey and you can try out a new activity such as geocaching or archery. Torgon also has plenty of restaurants to suit all tastes from Swiss to French and even a chocolate cafe for those with a sweet tooth.
