Description

Guana Breeze Info

Guana Breeze is a lovely, fun cottage conveniently located between Bakers Bay and the settlement of Guana Cay. This beautiful cottage was completely renovated in April 2021. Your beach access is a short walk or cart ride away. The settlement of Guana Cay has more than ample public dock access for all of your boating needs too. You will be blown away by the beautiful views of the Abaco Sea from our outdoor living room. With decks on both sides of the cottage you will have no problem watching the sunrise in the morning, sunsets in the evening and star gazing at night. We named the cottage Guana Breeze because of the wonderful breezes that never end.

The bedrooms are large and spacious with king beds in each and 9’ ceilings. One bedroom is large enough for a role away bed if you need an extra bed. We have all of the amenities including a large fully equipped kitchen, bar (“Lil Nippers”), comfortable large living room and dining room that seats 6 people.

This cottage has all of the amenities you need and if you have special request our wonderful caretaker Callicia will bend over backwards to take care of you. We have a large outdoor shower, ground level patio with a swing bed on the porch for afternoon naps. Our cottage has all the standard amenities as well such as air conditioning, 55” TV, wifi, Sono’s stereo, washer/dryer, dishwasher, outdoor propane grill, coffee maker, tea pot, blender, icemaker, hair dryer and emergency backup power. In addition, by request we have beach chairs, beach towels and coolers for your use.

The Island of Guana Cay is still beautiful as it continues to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian in 2019. With the help of everyone on the island, numerous volunteers, and hard core Guana Cay faithful it is well on its way back. Make sure you visit and support our local business’s especially Dive Guana, Grabbers Restaurant and Bar, Mama’s Restaurant, Orchid Bay Marina, and the Fig Tree Groceries.

Typically, guest fly into Thompson International Airport located in Marsh Harbor. From there you take a quick 10-minute cab ride to “The Crossings” and board onto G&L Ferry to Guana Cay. G&L Ferry makes it easy to visit Guana Cay, Man-O-Ware and Hope Town. Mazwell’s grocery is fully stocked and operational along with Abaco Groceries in Marsh Harbor. Once you arrive on Guana our caretaker Callicia can arrange a golf cart so you can zip around the island with ease.

Bahamas Power and Light has restored electricity to Guana Cay and Orchid Bay also has a large backup generator that is used for backup power to the island if needed. Our cottage also has an emergency generator just in case.

While you are on Guana take advantage of the world-renowned fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving off the coast and visit Fowl Cay National Park. Surf the coast of Guana! Rent a boat and island hop to Green Turtle Cay, Spoil Bank, Manowar, and Hope Town and many other uninhabited islands, and each night come home to Guana Breeze.

Callisia Spenser is the cottage caretaker and will meet, greet and orient you to Guana Breeze and our lovely island. As caretaker her main responsibility is to ensure you are greeted and get set up at the cottage and will answer any of your questions. She will ensure that everything is clean and working properly at the cottage. Callisia has over 15 years of experience as a caretaker and in the hospitality industry. She lives on the island and is available to assist you and answer any of your questions at any time. All you need to do is ask.

We have a gas grill located on the deck. Please turn off gas at the tank after each use. If the propane tank is empty, you can pay to have it filled at Guana Lumber for $35.

We start the year off with rum, wine and beer at our “lil nippers bar”. This is our contribution and toast to you, our guest. Feel free to drink and be merry! Feel free to leave your spirits for the next guest and replenish whatever you drink if you can. This is a good karma system so if you want good karma….. (Karma the sum of a person's actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in future existences.)

Recreational: There is a basketball courts at the park near Bakers Bay. We have a couple yoga mats that you are free to use. We have two beach chairs that you are free to use along with beach towels. All of your other needs including boats and snorkeling gear can be rented from Dive Guana. Bike rentals are not currently available of Guana. There is a new playground in the settlement of Guana.

There are two beach access points in Dolphin Beach Estates. One directly in front of the cottage and one located at the road leading to Love Beach. There are others in the settlement of Guana.

My favorite thing to do is walk the beach and costal coral reefs. If you walk on the coral were good shoes because this stuff is sharp and can really do some damage if you are not careful. I love to walk the sandy beach down and head to Nippers (if its open) or Mama’s for the afternoon beer and lunch. Both are about a 20–30-minute beach walk depending on how often you stop and gaze at the turquois blue water.
Dock Access: The settlement of Guana has excellent public dock access for your use.

Island Hoping: Island hoping seems to be the most popular activity for people that visit this island. If your boating head to the area directly south of Guana between Guana and Scotland Cay and just hang out in the shallow water with beautiful sandy bottom. You can also go north toward Bakers and hit Spoils Cay another shallow sandy bottom hangout. Both of these are 15-minute boat rides from Guana. You can make your way north to No Name Cay to swim with the pigs and enjoy a nice lunch at Big O’s. The adventures are endless here in the Abacos.

Hopetown is located on Elbow Cay and is about a 45-minute boat ride directly or you can take G&L Ferry to Marsh Harbor and then over to Hopetown. If you go to Hopetown, make sure you have lunch at “Fire Fly” or “On Da Beach”. Hopetown is a great place just to walk around, rent a bike and hang out. They also have a clinic that will do your covid test if needed. Tahiti beach is another excellent hang out with shallow water and white sandy beaches.

Golfing: There is obviously Bakers Bay which is a private resort located on Guana but there are many other golf opportunities on the surrounding islands.
