Rich in history, it was settled in the 1700s by Loyalists wishing to remain under British rule and today still retains something of a colonial flavor. Its boat building industry is still thriving.

LookOut Ridge perches on one of the highest points on the island; from there you enjoy wonderful breezes and incredibly gorgeous views of the Sea of Abaco in front and Eastern Harbour behind. The Sea of Abaco side has its own swim platform with hand hewn steps to the water. On the Eastern Harbour side is your own dock. It is extremely private and quiet, insuring ample opportunity for relaxation. Two kayaks are available at the cottage and more can be rented at the Marina for exploration, beach fun, or just visiting the settlement. Motor boats are also available for fishing trips and visiting other nearby islands. What fun going everywhere by boat or footpath! The area offers first class diving and snorkeling on the third largest coral reef in the world! The settlement has 2 great restaurants, a very good grocery store, and several small shops and is accessed by boat or a footpath along the waters edge (see the cottage's 3 ring binder in the cottage for more detail as well as all the owners' personal recommendations and insights).

You will LOVE this house! It's visually interesting (the boat building heritage is clearly evident in the superior workmanship) and it is immaculately maintained. The location is heavenly. And you will LOVE the people here. Whether local, expat, or visitor, they are incredibly warm, friendly and helpful and exude a unaffected charm.

Also, the logistics of a vacation on Man-O-War are easily doable; An hours flight from West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, or Miami to Marsh Harbour (there's also a direct flight from Atlanta). Then a 15 minute taxi ride to the Albury Ferry or G&L Ferry Dock. A 20 minute ferry ride to Man-O-War. On the way there ask ferry boat captain to drop you at Dock 39 on Eastern Harbour. Follow the sidewalk to your Bahamian Cottage at the top of the Ridge.
