Description

Little Possum Shack with its waterfront position is an ideal place to escape to tarrakuna (the Tasman Peninsula). An easy 15 to 20 minutes walk to the Port Arthur Historic Site with views across to Point Puer, Isle of the Dead and Tasman National Park.

This is a family shack with modern extension providing bright and sunny spaces . We accommodate a maximum of 6 person, but our place is best suited to a family of four (two adults and two children) or two couples. You can fit up to six people if you are happy to share sleeping spaces.

The main bedroom and bunk room open out onto a back deck area where there is a BBQ and outdoor seating. Another deck is at the front providing for views across Carnavon Bay.

Our place is still a work in progress so there are some minor elements of our renovation that are still being completed. The Kitchen is however recently rupgraded and has filtered water built into the fridge.

The neighbourhood:

Little Possum Beach is located on Carnavon Bay at the southern end of Port Arthur on tarrakuna/Tasman Peninsula.

The popular Port Arthur Historic Site is only 15 minutes foreshore walk from the property. Entry to the site provides an unforgettable two day experience exploring the numerous historic buildings and ruins. The nightly lantern lit Ghost Tour provides a chilling narrative of life and extraordinary occurrences at the Site dating from convict times.

5 minutes up the road is Pennicott Cruises (to Tasman Island), Port Arthur Lavender and in the other direction towards Nubeena McHenry & Sons Whisky Distillery is just 10 minutes drive.

The incredible tarrakuna/Tasman Peninsula is also renowned for its natural and scenic environment. There are lots of fabulous day and half day walks in the area including Remarkable Caves, Crescent Bay, Cape Hauy & Cape Raoul. As well as multi day walks including the Three Capes Track and Cape Pillar.

There are also a range of different beaches including child friendly beaches at Carnavon Bay and Stewart's Bay to beaches with more surf at Safety Cove, Crescent Bay and Roaring Beach.

Dinner options include the Port Arthur Historic Site, Stewart's Bay Lodge, Port Arthur Motor Inn or enjoy a fabulous counter meal at the Fox & Hounds Resort or enjoy your own cooked meal sitting on the deck enjoying the view.

There is a small local convenience store at the Port Arthur Cafe (opposite Pennicott's Cruises), with a small supermarket at Nubeena. Stop at Sorell, 10 minutes past the airport, for the nearest large supermarket (Coles or Woolworths).
